Apologies for posting a new Toledo problem in the Altea forum, but there are not very many users posting in the New Toledo forum yet - anyway its just the Altea estate !!

1. The rear bumper is a slightly different shade of paint to the rest of the car ! (Metallic paint)

When i queried the dealer, he said they are all like that (and showed me several examples in different colours in the showroom, he was right !). He said SEAT now gets the bumper manufacturer to paint the bumpers also instead of the bumpers getting sprayed on the car at assembly, resulting in colour mismatches ..... I dont know if this is true, as there seems to be no colour mismatches with the front bumper....

Maybe someone in the trade could add a comment if they are aware of this problem.

I dont think its good enough that 'they are all like that'......you pay 600 extra for metallic paint and it doesnt even match !! I dont see any similar problems with VW or Skoda models with similar paint !!

Should I go after SEAT about it ? Will I get anywhere ?? Is it a waste of time ??

2. Can the high beam headlamps be adjusted independently of the low beam lamp ? It seems to me that they are not independent, so when you adjust the beam so that the dipped beam is focussed properly, the high beam spread is too low, and you cant see the far enough up the road at speed. Am I right in saying there is no way of raising the high beam without raising the dipped beam also ?

Thanks for all your comments,

in answer to piont 1. I have a MY2006 Leon with metalic paint and the bumper and body are perfectly matched colour wise. So I can't see any reason why it should be acceptable on a Toledo.

What colour is your car by the way? There may be other owners with the same colour car.

Piont 2. The whle light unit is adjusted at once, so both dip and main go up and down together.

The best thing I have ever done, is borrow the headlight alignment thingy at the garage and set my lights up correctly, it's amazing how far out they can be and still pass.

I have'nt heard of this paint issue before, and i have'nt noticed a problem with my rear bumper (the car is glacier blue met). Might be worth getting hold of someone with a paint micrometer to see if any extra paint has been added to it during some sort of repair for example. I'm not sure what can be done for you though. If you want it resprayed then its likely that it would come back the same. The best you could hope for is some sort of compensation in the form of a free service or some money back or somthing. How old is the car? did you buy it new?

My car is a 3 month old '06 Toledo reference, bought new with 5 km on the clock. No sign of any respray or delivery damage, all the protective sticky foam bits were still on it from the bumper from the factory when collected.

Colour = misty beige metallic.

I have seen several which seem to have the same problem, may be it is most obvious with this shade of paint

Here's a picture of an identical (not mine) irish car off the web, same colour, model year etc.....watch where the bumper meets the steel panels under the rear lamp cluster and behind the rear wheel and you will notice.

Hi TDI_luver,
Don't worry about being a new Toledoowner and posting here -I have been doing it for a long time, for just the same reason!

I have a platinum grey Toledo and haven't noticed any difference in colour of any of the panels.

However, has anyone noticed on Audi A4 or maybe A6 (or even both) that the rear bumper is always off colour, esp on the silver ones.

John.

I have a toledo also, eclipse blue. I have not noticed any difference in colour. Is it maybe specific to certain colours? Or maybe to more recent models?
