stuck in traffic when i noticed the temp gauge shotting upward. pulled over and opened the bonnet. The water tank was bubbling like a kettle.. so i released the pressure and waited for the car to cool down. The aircon has also stopped working... checked all the fuses and all seems to be ok. any ideas??

Have you checked the fuses above the battery?

I think i read that they can suffer from corrosion, so check them all.

could be that something tripped out so ur fans werent cooling ur engine

theres a small black cover over the battery, open this up and theres a series of connections, sometimes these get corroded and i believe one is for the fans. might be worth looking at

Go round with a socket tightening all the nuts and bolts around the battery. Mine once came loose and it did all sorts of weird things.

Speakers popping, lights dimming, etc, etc.

u shouldnt be driving your car if the cooling fans are faulty

most cars will over heat in summer traffic, if the fans come on though and the temps go down...thats normal, maybe a top up of coolant could help

but if the fans arent coming on at all then u shouldnt be out driving really

Actual fuse holder has melted internally causing the current to ark across to the fuse causing high a lot of heat.
