Hi guys,
Just new to this forum and looking some help for my tdi leon.
(Hope this is in the right section)
So heres the problem,
The purple/black plug with 7 or so wires coming from it that connects into the ignition is overheating. Was driving along one day and could smell burning, then could see smoke coming from around the steering column. Pulled over to find that the plug had melted itself and melted all the wires. (i had my lights on at the time). I must add, i had 100W bulbs in aswell and stupid me didnt have them relayed at all. They worked for about a year with absolutely no problems until this happened. There is no other sign of burning or melting anywhere around the lights or the wires that i can see.
So anyway got this plug and short bit of loom off a scrapped car and soldered it on. Changed the bulbs back to standard 55W but no help. I can drive with the lights on but the wires are very very hot, i cannot use my fogs or my full headlights as this overheats the wires and plug too much and am afraid of melting them agian and maybe be left in the middle of the road some night with no lights!
Anybody any similar problem? Or can anybody shed some light on the problem?
Thanks,
Raymo
