OK, so my girlfriend bought a Cupra from wales a couple of weeks ago - it overtheated the day she got it and replaced a plastic 4 way splitter for the water pipes.

Filled it with coolant and water and idles fine. Did afew test runs and fine, but as soon as u want to bring the revs up she overheats! (well temp gauge shoots up). Sumtimes these can be faulty i've heard, but I'm not taking a chance after last time...

Had to pull over and wait for it to cool down. AGAIN!

Any idea's what else it could be??

OK, cool, thanks guys - I'll ring her - she's sat at the side of the road 300miles away from me atm!!!

So the 4-way splitter for the water that goes off to the rad, block and expansion tank - is that a common fault. She removed it and it had a hole in it aswell as a crack running down the entire side of it...

Anything else we need to keep an eye on? She's gutted - only had the car a week and both days she's tried to drive it it's f**ked up on her!!

This guna be a difficult/expensive job? I'm v.concerned about head gasket damage now....

coil packs (ignition)
mass air flow meters
boost pressure control valve
cooling fan's and battery fuse box are common,
ambient temp sensor
faulty radios not turning off or turning on and flattebing the battery overnight
oxygen sensors

her radio volume control is v.sensetive, push it up/down too quic and it does the opposite! Need a new front panel for that cuz Temp up on heater controls button is cracked and a couple of surface scratches. Cant seem to find any on ebay...

was given 2 spare coilpacks frm previous owner - and her Mk2 GTi has just had a new coilpack fitted.

Her mate has turned up - seems to think its an airlock...
