Does anyone know if the Temperature sensor for the outside temperature is the same one for the working of the Glow plugs, the ECU setting the tickover RPM & the Climate Control outside ambient Temperature.

I'm suspecting that whatever senses the outside temperature is reading a far too lower reading :

The symptoms I'm getting are :

i) Frequently when I turn the ignition on to start the car the glow plug light comes on & stays on for minutes sometimes before going out….& to be honest in the temperatures we've recently had they hardly need to come on at all.

ii) Once started & even after been runing a short while the engine revs are high at tickover maybe 1100-1200 RPM sometimes slightly higher…………….indicating to me that the ECU thinks the air outside is colder.

iii) The Climate control is supposed to disable the Aircon compressor from working if the outside temperature is less than +5 DegC………….however mine is disabled much higher temperature

Thanks ssstew..............is this document available on the web anywhere ?.

I'd like also to stop the Aircon being disabled at any temperature............I understand why it does it but I'm sensible enough to use it at low temps when absolutely required (ie keeping moisture off the screen in winter)
