Opinions required on boost problem

Hi Everyone,

I've got an annoying hesitation on acceleration under full load (and anything close to it). I've searched and read through the many posts of the same or similar issues and just wanted to get an opinion on my diagnosis.

The hesitation just seems to be the turbo, not the engine misfiring so I'm initially ruling out spark problems and MAF sensor.

The boost is strong when it's on, it just cuts in and out all through the rev range, so I'm thinking it's more likely to be the N75 than the pipes.

I'm almost decided on getting a new N75 (standard) and will check the pipes at the same time.

Any other considerations I need to make are welcome...

The best starting point would be to get it on Vag-com and see if it throws any codes up.

I've just actually arranged to pick up a cable at lunch time. It's an ebay selller but as they're round the corner from work I know where to find them if I have problems.

That'll be a steep learning curve this evening!

Ok, not so steep learning curve. That was easy. But not really helpful either. The only two error codes I had were from disconnecting the MAF sensor, which I did yesterday.

Is there any other way of testing whether the N75 is the culprit?

Many Thanks...

OK, the fault seems to be improving.

Has anyone experienced boost problem after their car had been standing for a few weeks?

Hi, I think I have the same problem. When you give it a bit of toe end, the revs get high and it sounds as if the turbo keeps cutting out then coming back in! Is this the same as what your getting? If so, what have you done so far to no avail?

I've checked the pipes as much as possible without finding anything. There was a jubilee clip on one of the intercooler pipes a bit loose but that didn't solve it. I've ordered a forge DV and once that's fitted I'm hoping it'll either fix it or hold the boost better to out the bad pipe.

I've just fitted a Forge DV and it is still as bad. I've been told it may be the boost pressure. I've turned it down and it has helped a little. I plan to play with this again.

Hi,

I've been a member of this site for a while now & never posted so I apologise in advance if I come across as a complete amateur or you've already thought of this. I had the same problem which only became noticable following a stage 1 remap. The turbo seemed to pulse under load, was more noticable in higher gears. Anyway, I disconnected the N75 & drove mine round the block, am not sure whether that's recommended or not though. Although there was no boost there was also no pulsing. I replaced my N75 with the ECS race version as they're not mega expensive & they're easy to fit. That solved it for me, no problems since.

Hope that helps in some way.

I bypassed the N249 at the weekend and I'm pretty sure it's sorted it. I want to give it a few more runs before I confirm though.
