If you want a personalised number plate and can afford it good luck to you.
Personally I'd rather spend the money on something else.
So that'll be insurance, fuel, tyres, 20,000 mile service, a new DVD player or handbag and shoes for the "minister for war"!

Regards Guy.

I have a private plate and from experience there are a few things to think about before getting one. (The main reason I got one in the first place was to hide the age of my old car and wouldn't have bothered if I had my current car)

1) If its car specific, I.E "1 EON" its probably no good on your next car
2) To transfer the plate its £105
3) If you come to sell your car you have to have your plate put on a retention certificate (this took about 6 weeks for mine) or if you leave it on the car then the new owner has the legal ownership of the plate.

depends on the plate i feel, but generally ok, to have a personal plate and for £2-300

probably nicer to have one that's car specific, but name ones are [B)] to,

The one i've seen is £250, but think i'd rather spend it on suspension, at the moment..

Wish i'd kept the one i had on a car years ago 53 GEV, would be worth a mint now i expect..

I have recently had this dilemma. I saw a good number plate just for the leon, but decided not to go for it becasue when I eventually sell the leon this will be going with the car and i'll lose the cash.

Best ones I think to go for are name ones as you can keep these for life, and if you want to sell you will prob get good money.

However I could not be bothered with the cost and the swap over as I have only just managed to get the garage to swap over the plates from the previous owners private one!!

mines says L30N blah blah, makes the car stand out from the crowd a bit and only cost 250 quid and if i don't buy a leon next some lucky bugger will get a nice car with a nice plate thrown in.
