One sided iPod issue, really difficult, dealers stumped.

Howdy folks.
Right. 59 plate Leon FR. SPeakers work perfectly using radio and CD. When I play any iPod or MP3 player through the AUX input either through a jack or an £85 SEAT iPod adaptor, the noise that comes out of the left speakers sounds like it's under water and has little mid range to bass. It distorts with increased volume but the right side is perfect. The dealer had the whole friggin dashboard out today to replace a part I've forgotten and the previous dealer supposedly replaced the stereo and the AUX inputs. Has anybody heard of this before? It's doing my head in!

Best way to check would be borrowing a connects 2 aux interface and seeing if that works,if it still doesn't work it's a stereo issue
