Ok i am going to do a build thread on my mk3 which i hope to turn in to a track car / fun second car.
As some of you may know i owned this car from 2004 with no mods apart from the wheels.
Then i did a few mods in the 4 years i had it, even got it in Golf+ mag as the poster in the midle :D Then in 2008 i sold it to get a estate car and make a mk2 golf race car.
I then had to sell the golf because of work going thin.
A few weeks ago a friend of mine spotted my mk3 on ebay so i went and had a look and managed to buy it back
It has had a hard last 12k miles (in 2.5 years) but for the price i don't mind doing abit of work to get it back to its former glory or better.

Here is a bit more about it HERE

This time it wont be my dayle drive so i can go abit mad with it.
I have a mk2 ibiza gti (which is for sale now) which i was going to turn in to a track toy but it would cost a lot to get it any were near my mk3 and would never have the same power so it make sens to get my mk3 back really + i know the history.

It just needs a blow over as there is some rust on the rear arches and the paint is pealing like they do in places. A new set of wheels because they have been curbed abit.
And maybe a turbo or N75. He said he had problems so took it to a garage who have disconnected the n75 and put in a tap instead to regulate boost. I don't think the owner or the garage know what they were doing. It might just be the n75 needs changing.
Other wise it drives and pulls up to 12psi very well

Abit of tinkering and some TLC and She'll be as good as new :D
I don't have any new pics yet but here are some old ones from before for people who don't know the car

Ok i have had a good look over the car now and found a few odd things.

Intercooler
The last owner said the intercooler fell off but he had it fixed and also the turbo was boosting funny.
So i had a look at the intercooler and who ever he took it to had just made some hooks to hold it in place. So i took it back to forge to get some new brackets welded on but they noticed it had a hole in the bottom were it had scraped along the road.
I asked them to make me a new cooler which they did at a good price.
I have now sprayed it black as i want a more stealth looking car this time.
Here are some pics

More updates to come very soon

As my car is off the road till i sell my mk2 ibiza (see in the for sale section ;))
I am going to get as many parts up together as i can ready.
So next on my list is aero wipers, now i do have them fitted already from before but they are the wrong ones really so I've found the part numbers and will be ordering them today

Front Wiper Arms (these are drivers side arms, need two rather than one driver and one passenger) x 2 - 6X2 955 410 C - £30.88
Front Wiper Blade x 2 - 6X2 955 426 A - £10.94

Here is a pic of the turbo and the odd pipe work the dodgy garage did to the car when it wasn't running properly :shrug:

Also if you look in the last pic the down pipe looks a bit small for a 3" with sports car which i sold the car with.
I had noticed this when i viewed the car and to double check i went on to the DVLA web site and looked at the last two MOT's.
The car had failed one of them because of the emissions so I'm guessing they changed the CAT and down pipe back to a std one :ban:

So my list now is
1. Fit FMIC
2. Buy and fit proper aero arms and wipers
3. Plum the N75 back in properly then when she is on the road again get some logs done.
4. keep on collecting parts for my hybrid conversion.

i was going to say the very same thing about the dp,when i was looking at the pic i also thought that is not 3" as you said looks like it may have been put back to the std one, dont know what the hell that garage have put that valve on there for try take it off and get another n75 vave plumb it in all back as std and see what happens

Nice to see you have it again.

I had the chance to buy back my MK5 Zetec-S a few months ago - two years after selling it.
It was in a right state, I cherished it, just couldnt take it back as It would have taken too much to put back to how it was (it had only done 5,000 miles aswell)

Im sure you will have it back upto scratch again - huge bonus is the fact you already know these cars quite well.

Cheers Dave, It just seemed daft to spend a load of money on the mk2 when this car has alot of the work done.
I hope to see ya on a track day or two this summer.

Look forward to seeing this progress :D. Bet it feels good that you have it back after selling it all those years ago.

Im sure there is a picture of your mk2 in this months issue of Golf+ at a Club Gti (?) trackday.

Update.
I Sold the mk2 on Saturday to a guy who flew down to Bristol from Glasgow
So as my misses drove me back home I rang and sorted my car insurance out for my mk3 and the second i got home i printed the cover note off and shot in to town to get the tax.

So with it all road legal i set about sorting the N75 out and fitting the aero wipers (pics to follow) With the N75 all i did was take out the MBC they had fitted and plumed the N75 back in to see how it drives. Also as i was pocking around i noticed some of the turbo to charge pipe clips weren't sat properly so redid them and topped up the oil and washer fluid.
With the wipers i ordered the the proper arms and blades and when i fitted them i still had to trim 15mm off the end off the pass side, but all is OK now.

Then with the help of chipmunk we took the car for a drive, it felt really good, all seems to be fine. With vag come i check the maf which only hit 145, i think this might be a bit low for my mods (can some one confirm) but the N75 all seems to be working and it was so good to get it out again and give it some stick, i forgot how much it pulls and then grips on the corners

I'll get some pics and the log up soon

Bill, could the low airflow be to having lower octane petrol in? eg if its mapped for vpower putting standard 95ron petrol in, will it give lower numbers?
