Hi all,

Well ive had my 51 plate Leon Cupra 20v for 6 months now. Thoroughly enjoying the car, just gave it a major service yesterday, all the filters, oil etc, and its really running sweet. I have been thinking about getting a Cupra R and saving up, but after finding out how cheap my Cupra is to insure next year as im 21, im thinking of keeping it and just getting it remapped.

A friend of mine has a Focus ST 58 plate, and his always sniggering as he always the edge. Will a remap from AMD make that smirk from him go???? lol :p I already have a forge 007p, smoothed air box and well thats about it lol. Have been looking into doing a custom FMIC with inlet and outlet on the same side.

I have heard so many good things about AMD, and considering they are about half hour away from me, ive been considering on using them. Does the stage 1 remap really transform the standard LC?
Really looking for someone who has owned a standard LC and got theirs remapped with them?

I would say it would wipe the smile of his face yes as they ST are quite lardy.

Getting the following mods will see a good 220-30bhp

- CAT Back Exhaust
- 4FPR
- 007P
- N247 bypass
- Panel Filter
- Upgraded Hoses

Someone with a 1.8T will clarify I am sure.

I cant comment on AMD as mine is a P-Torque stage 1 but I think the answer will be yes, having the remap won't just increase your power and torque but the delivery of said power and torque.

Get the remap you will not regret it. I drive my lc today with the revo switched to stock for the first time. Then switched it back to performance mode because it's just miles apart.

If you think your lc is quick now the remap will blow your socks off!!![:@]

I had my LC remapped at AmD, worth every penny mate, completely changed the car. its a rather aggressive map, and the feeling of being kicked up the backside at 3000rpm is fantastic.

Hi Mate,

I've used AmD for quite a few bits of work now, and they provide a good service.

At the last RR day i went to earlier in the year at AmD, quite a few people had AmD maps and they made good power etc.

I'd of gone down the AmD route if i'd not already got a Custom Code map done.

Happy Mapping :)

You could get insured on an LCR at 21? Every insurer I spoke to (and other owners I knew before I bought mine) claimed you needed to be 25 to be insured on an LCR, and even then it's not cheap. I'm not paying spare-change and I'm 30!

Sorry, kinda on toppic:ban:

yea i can get insured, just prefer to save money on the LC and spend it on mapping instead. At the end of the day, a sorted LC is as good as me saving up for a stock LCR. Looking for me to save least another 4k to get a nice LCR.

Ive only just had my plate put on my car and given it a full service, and im really happy with it. Just needs more aggression :) i cant really say the LC wernt as quick as i thought it would be until i unleash some of its potential. Ive been comparing it to my old 106 gti which had all the breathing mods done to it, and id say the GTI would have munched it up to 110, until the LC got going, but well see once i remap it

Within time im looking to save up for a C5 vette. but yea, thats quite away off yet lol! :-o

Mate, no car is un insurable, i got insured on a 182 clio at 18, paid a fair whack but took agessssssssssss of searching and searching and phoning but paid 2800 tpf&t. I dont mind paying a bit for insurance as i dont smoke or drink, so most if not 99% of my money is on my cars :D Once you declair mods etc then they bend you over.
As for the ST with a remap and a good bit of driving, you should have him :funk:

Different tuner but to make 242bhp was just a panel filter , sports cat/downpipe and stage 2 map.
most tuners wont want a 4bar fpr and dv and hoses should be fine if in good nick.

Hi Guys

As above, a turbo back exhaust allows stronger boost to be acheived and held whilst keeping EGT's safe.

If you are going for a full exhaust, you ideally want custom mapping to optimise power and delvery.

The 1.8T 180hp can very safely run 230+hp with:

Custom Software
Turbo back exhaust
Forge 007P
Performance Panel filter

If you chip yours to 210bhp and his ST is standard then yes, you'll surprise him :)

If he has DSCi map from Dreamscience then he'll destroy you ;)

Oh, and they get their power down better and handle much better!

Yeah, read an old review that had the LCR, Civic Type R, Impreza WRX, S3 and Focus RS and they said that the RS and WRX were in a class of their own handling wise. That said, the same review said that the LCR is the car that the S3 wants to be  and that the Type R is let down by a poor chassis

That 5-cylinder sounds nice with a proper exhaust system for sure. Mind you, the LCR sounds pretty angry at Stage 2 and makes similar figures to that of the ST but we need to factor a rear ARB and front strut brace into the cost to match it in all area's.

I wouldnt buy the map outright to beat another car, id buying it for the driveability and more instant poke. I think the ST will win against an LC by a small margin but you will keep up but if it was a 265bhp LCR no chance. As for the AMD map mines great, lots of mid range torque to take you from quietly cruising to absoloutely flying in no time. Id wait if you can for one of their open days/ RR days and get it at a discounted offer price.
