Oil Temp Gauge....people found it useful?

I brought 2 gauges (Boost - PSI & Oil Temp.) late last year to fit in my LCR, not got round to it due to other commitments (i know it should be priority!!).

Has anyone who has the oil temp gauge found it to be useful, as i'm going to order my a-pillar pod soon and i'm trying to decide on a single pod or a double.

I'm planning on a map soon too :)

Advise would be appreciated.

Cheers

Im also interested in buying a 'a pillar pod.'

I'd really like to add a boost and oil temp guage. Are they difficult to fit and connect up or would it be worth while getting it fitted somewhere?

Any one know of anywhere in the North West that will fit one?

Sorry to highjack the thread

my ibiza 03 came fitted from the factory with a oil temp gauge , its an invaluable tool , i thought it would be handy to keep an eye on high oil temps when giving it some pasty action ( copyright bill brockbank 07 tm) but in reality its low oil temps you worry about , lets you know when you can thrash ( usually 10-15mins after start up) every car should have 1

Oil temp is one of the most useful gauges you can install. Tells you when the car is cold/warm as the water in the coolant system heats up much faster than the oil/engine. The temp gauge on the dash is coolant temp.

Also lets you know the engine is running too hot - engine heat may rise but coolant does not usually rise with it - so you know when you're pushing your car too hard. I find after 30 mins @ 130-140 mph the oil temp starts to rise

Anything that tells you whats really happening under the bonnet is useful. I had an oil temp sensor in the golf, but there isnt one on the leon and i miss it. Just out of interest, how much were the gauges?

Thanks for the detailed feedback guys....................double pod it is then!

"Tompotts" - I brought both gauges together last year at Trax from 'Auto gauges'. They were on special for £50 a pair.
