Oil Recomendation

Hi

I need oil for my 1.6 petrol stylance and emailed my local dealer to see what they recommeneded, there response was:

15w 40 or 10w 40

Whats the difference between the two, and which one would people recommend?

ps Went through the thing on Castol website to see what oil castol recommend and they suggest 5W 30!

Im So confused lol dont know which to buy!

Read the manual and ignore the dealer the only oils you should use are VW specification oils (which are all fully synthetic) My dealer advised me to use semi synthetic in my TFSI and also said thats what they use in the workshop... thats why I'm getting mine serviced at an independant specialist.

This means absolutely nothing to me!

Please enlighten me on what i need to buy and possibly if you have a second (or anyone else for that matter) recommend one by way of a link from www.halfords.com

If you go into the store and look at the labels on the containers it will state that the oil is approved to one of:
VW501 01
VW502 00
VW504 00

I use Mobil 1 to top up which is fully synthetic and suitble for all current VW petrol engines.


Just looked at the halfords website and you won'y get the oils quoting the VW standards there you'll have to go instore.
