After hearing about the TFSI drinking oil I thought it would be a good idea to check the oil on my 1.6 but found i have a really odd dipstick;

Now Im not sure where the level should be, im guessing somewhere along the threaded part.
Does anyone else have a dipstick like this?
Approx how much oil would it take to go from the min to max level?
Thanks for any help

My 1.6 has the same strange dipstick...As far as I'm aware the oil level should be somewhere in the middle of the 'ribbed' bit.

Is that true for yours then? Do I just keep adding glugs of oil n test it until its in the right place on the dipstick?

So far I have not needed to add any oil, the level doesn't seem to have changed much since I got the car.

top to bottom is usually anything from 1/2 to 1.5 litres on most cars, so be careful as too much oil can be just as harmful as too little, as if it is too excessive it causes piston lock & nasty things like that.

If you've put too much oil in, then can't you just drain a small amount? It's a bit messy but as long as it isn't hot and you don't get it in your eyes you'll be OK.
