Hi

First of all i'm new to the forum so a quick hi and introduction. Ive just bought myself a 2003 seat leon cupra. Love the car and its great fun to drive, especially when coming from a 1.2l corsa!

The oil level light came on a couple of days ago (yellow illumination). I pulled over checked the dipstick, it was a little over the maximum so definitely not low!

Anyway its come on again and the level is still the same. The light wont go out until I open the bonnet. When I restart the engine and drive the car the light doesnt light up again.

The car is due a service and is booked into jkm in portsmouth on tuesday. Only problem is im currently 120 miles away and reluctant to drive the car if i might risk damaging it.

I think the car is probably ok to drive and that instead the sensor maybe dodgy. Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks
John

Ok thanks for that, I did do a search but didnt see that one.

I think the bonnet catch is working fine and as long as the yellow light means it is level on the cupra mk1 and not pressure then I feel a little bit more confident about driving home than I did before .....

Im going to connect to vcds lite later see if there are any fault codes and what they are.

Thanks for your help

So I put my leon into jkm portsmouth today for its service. It also turned out that the oil level sensor needed replacing.

Can I just say what a pleasure they were to deal with, its nice to deal with a garage which actually seem honest and arent trying to rob you blind!!

Anyway thanks for the help
