Right been watching my oil temps and they have risen since fitting this final drive.... I don't fancy the oil degrading when I do track days, last time I was keeping a close eye on it and when it touched 120C I went back into the pit lane. Been looking on eBay for kits, found one for the Ibiza but a few for the Golf’s….. This would be fine I’m thinking since really it’s just two hoses, sandwich plate and a thermostat.

Have anyone got a few pics of the oil cooler fitted to their mk2's and what is the max temp before oil degrades.... I've heard 130 degrees C???

There's not alot of room to stick the cooler in that position with the stock coolant & aircon rads bit of jiggery pokery. Cant comment on temps as it has'nt been run in anger as such.

With the sandwich plate theyre aint alot of room between the bottom of the filter and the top of the cross member. I'll be ditching the heat exchanger as it wont be required

Stu... what size are the connection bits? 5/8bsp, 1/2bsp, etc...???

And did you have the oilstat to, if so do you know the part number or how much did you pay? I asked for one but it only cost £28 so i think they just sent me a sandwich plate!

The sandwich plate I got has no stat, engine will take slightly longer to get upto temp but you dont thrash a top spec engine from cold anyway....

I think I opted for 1/2" but used push on fittings instead of screw on at the plate as I bought it for different project on the previous project

I would expect a plate with stat to cost more than £28

I got 5/8 with male aptors to 1/2??? I haven't got a clue about them... is that okay? lol

I have looked at the sandplates on the web site and normal ones are £11 odd. Give them a ring now then I think!
