Hi,
I am going to change the oil on my leon mk1 1.9tdi and was wondering where the oil filter is.I have looked under the engine cover and I'm guessing it is in the middle at the front of the engine. Is that correct? If not it would be helpful to know where it is.Also is it easy to find the sump plug.

Any help would be much appreciated.

if you look to the right of the dipstick (under the engine cover) there's a black cylinder with a screw up lid on the top. The filter is in there. just unscrew the lid, replace the filter and seals and screw it back up again.

the sump plug is on the sump but there is usually a large plastic belly pan under the engine which is a pain to remove. I suggest getting one of these Pela pumps http://www.pelapumps.co.uk/

I have the Pela 6000 and it's brilliant. It gets every drop out (i checked with the sump plug). You can change your oil without getting dirty!
People moan about sludge etc.. but sludge sticks to the side of the sump anyway and won't drain out via the plug.

i couldnt be bothered to get underneath the car (plus bad experience in past of someone driving into the car while jacked up) so got a pela pump. worked a treat!
