Hi Guys,

Just a quick question i have oil around my inlet manifold, not very much, but some.

I clean it all up and will be back after a few runs.

I have been told this is normally the breather pipes having split and the oil can now escape? is this correct as i can not find splits or should i be more concerned about something else?

cheers
Alex

cheers mate.

Silly question mate but should i hear this just on idle? i have a feeling it is intermitent.

So if its under the manifold this is why i potentially have not seen the split?

cheers
Alex

cool i will give that a try tomorrow lunchtime to see if i can hear the noise if i move the pipes around.

If not its due a service in a month so i will get them to do it then.

Just wanted to know if it was potentially anything more serious which its seems its not

thanks

i'll nip out in about half an hour and take a picture, But it gathers on the far right of the manifold furthest away from the TB. Collects on the metal work just there.

yep i think oil breather then, is there loads of crap in the oil where you feel for the pipe, you should be able to just take the front plate off where the dip stick is, put your hand under and feel a really squishy pipe.

yes mate, where that sticker is on the plate is the pipe under the manny,

take off that meal plate, 2 bolts and you will see the pipe, they cost about £16 from a dealer. the worst part is removing the clips that hold it on. once off its a 10 minute job to replace it,

hope that helps.

no nothing at all. mate scanned it for me the other day, (just because he could, not looking for anything)

just had the engine cover off to swap my temp sender with a mates as he was having issues and i spotted it. maybe not quite bad enough to throw a code just like the coils and maf etc do??

hers ran bad aswell, as soon as i fixed the pipe the codes havent come back and it runs perfect.

might find you only have a small split then,

mine does run a little bad from time to time which makes me think it could be a small split that opens now and again as well as there not being too much oil.

can be driving fine then go a little funny then back to normal could be another fault as well i dunno :) if it wasn't the market that it is at the moment i would trade in for something else :)

I have this issue at the moment too, although leakage in a different spot, and the car is not running all that well at the moment

catch can on its way and new set of replacement pipes too!
