Hi all,

Firstly I'd like to apologise if this has been answered elsewhere in the forum but I cannot seem to find an answer to my specific question.

I just had my MOT done today. I got a SEAT Leon TDI (130) and it has done 125k. I failed my MOT due to this: 'Offside front suspension arm bush deteriorated resulting in excessive movement'.

I have been quoted £80 incl VAT to replace both the Offside and Nearside bushes. Could anyone tell me if this is a reasonable price please?

Thanks

towcester vag: thank you very much for your prompt reply. Much appreciated. Its the first time these bushes will be changed on the car hence the question. Thanks again.

What's with MOT testers and failing or advising bushes and pads.

I've been for a MOT and know a few others, who have been to many and they always put down bushes and pads. It's just a quick and easy job and extra £££ for them.

The mot tester said, you ever change your back pads. He said ooohh. Looking a bit low on the rear..
(I didn't tell him the previous owner changed them for EBC redstuffs only a few months ago)

Then he said front bushes are looking bit worse for wear.

beastgtir: Well had my MOT done yesterday and I failed based on this bush that needs to be replaced. In all honestly I do trust the garage I go to as I have been using them for the last 3 years now and they have always been pretty honest.

These bushes have never been replaced on my car so for the age (2003) and mileage I have done I guess this is normal??

same, had mine today (failed) but the bush is 'slightly deteriorated' so if it passes next week itll be saving for polybush later. mines 02 so yeah id say thats about right.

I take it this is on the wishbone? The rear one on the front wishbone? Get the R32/Audi TT/Cupra ones, they last forever and aren't really dear. Part number is 8N0 407 181B and you can buy the lemforder ones from murrays direct on ebay, lemforder are superb quality.

I would buy them and take them in to let the garage fit them if you don't want to do it yourself.
