Off foglights off!!

Im possibly about to win the stupidest question trophy, but...

I cannot turn the foglights off!!!!

Ive turned every dial and pushed every stick. No lights appear on the dash to show any lights are on.

If the dial is set to off theyre on, if I move them to main and pull once theyre on, and if I pull it again I get rears aswel as front fogs.

Any Im doing wrong or is is just dodgy wiring??

Have you pushed - not turned - the dial into the dash? If so, you may have a dodgy switch, so best get it to Seat for a quick check.

Yeah Ive pushed the dial in and the lights go out (thanks to the reflection off the car in front), but when I release it it pops out and the lights come on again

Sounds like something inside the switch has snapped. You will need a new one.

How many different positions does the dial have then?

I assumed you pulled it out once for front fogs and out again for front and back. I didnt realise you could push it in from its standard position

You should only be able to pull it in or out with the lights on if that makes sense. With the lights off you shouldn't be able to pull it out. Also as you turn the switch to turn off the lights, the switch should go back in.

I had the exact same problem with my car when I got it. Quick trawl through fleabay found a brand new switch for about £35 IIRC.

A mate fitted it for me in exchange for a pint - problem solved!

Yeah thats right Tim, it seems to push in or out in once its "on", but once you switch them off, they remain....on!

Hehehe - I think I was pretty lucky with the part price though, as the RRP is about double what I paid.

You could always try contacting the guy I got the switch from though - he's the parts guy from a proper dealership:
