Could fitting an interior LEDs cause the emissions warning light to come on?
Hi all,
Just a thought - a couple of weeks back I fitted an LED in the centre interior light (in the middle of the two map lights). I fitted it, tested it and left it at that - without starting the engine.
The next morning I went for a drive and the emissions warning light flashed up on the dash. The car feels no different (certainly not in limp mode, in fact running very smoothly with all this nice cold air!) and MPG has not changed (i.e. it is pretty dreadful!).
I had initially put this down to coincidence, but I've noticed a couple of threads where people have fitted LED tail/brake lights and had the same problem, presumably caused by a drop in voltage.
I have since taken the LED out and replaced with the standard bulb, then popped to my local mechanic who cleared the warning light with a universal code reader thing, but the light is back again (the car has been off the road since my first trip to get the fault cleared as I crashed on the way home at about 4 mph in the snow!!).
Any thoughts guys? I really don't want to buy a new lambda sensor if I don't have to, but on the other hand I want to book my car in for a remap in the next couple of weeks and want it fault free before handing it over.
Cheers,
Boz
