Normal?

Dont know if any of you guys get this but ive noticed that if i put my foot down all the way the revs slightly jump (talking 15 - 25 rpm) when in the 2500rpm range and carries on. Now ive thought ok it might be the dual mass flywheel just taking the power or could this be a sign of clutch slippage? Any way of telling if the clutch is due? Im on 33k now.

And the other thing, discussed many times and yes i have searched but my discs are due still (posted awhile ago about fitting 312mm, which i cant afford now), so i was going to go for the diamond combi discs and pads, as the standard brakes are shocking, will i notice a big difference?

Cheers guys

Could be be both though I'd go with clutch slippage. Getting 312mm upgrade doesnt cost much at all.

Carrier 97 quid
Discs 80 quid
Pads 50-60 quid.

Thanks for the answers guys. sadly my budget cant cover the 312mm and labour, nor am i confident enough to change the discs, had to replace the light bulb behind the battery a few months ago and gave me quite a scare at the amount of work needed....aint quite the same as changing bits and bobs on a basic ford ka!

Sorry to bring this up again, been searching through the forums and noticed how many get clutch slippage, scary....wondered if anyone else has noticed this on their cars

Lots of people do, especially if they have had a remap.

You normally get it inbetween 2.5-3k revs, when you floor it, you lose power, and your rev's spike (jump up about 1k without you actually getting anymore power).

My remap caused mine to slip, so I got a Sachs racing clutch from JBS - all fine now :)

Sounds like clutch slip to me.

If you have a mismatch between revs and road speed (ie revs suddenly rise up but road speed doesn't) then you definitely have clutch slip.

The odd thing is that its only 20 rpm, if that, its tiny amount of jump and the power comes straight in without any lag...if it was 100rpm or more then i would have thought slippage myself.

I havent had a remap either and nor have i abused the car (clutch dumps, or full flat out in low revs)...

The other thing, though it might not be anything, above 50mph, being in gear or not (as in coasting above that speed) i get slight vibration in the car, not something that you can feel, i only noticed it through the steering wheel. Never felt it before until recently...maybe tracking or tyres are due on the front

Seat garages are hopeless in my area and now that ive done more than 30k no way will i get anything under warranty.
