Normal unleaded fuel

I leant my parents my car for an hour today and they have put £20 of normal unleaded in the tank

Is there any effects or problems doing this?

I know when mapped they are setup to run on 99 ron or similar which is worrying

It'll be fine. Worst thing is the knock sensors will pull the timing back in. But it can't do any harm

As m0rk said, it's fine.... I've had to do it from time to time when really low, and stations are empty! Ran about 6 weeks with normal back around May time due to nowhere having super
