Hi all,

I'm going to buy an Autogauge Boost and Oil Temp gauge, however, even after searching continously through various threads i still cant make my mind up on what pillar mount to fit them in. A lot of people go for the Nomad variety which are easy to fit but apparently dont look as 'finished' or 'professional' as they should.

Any ideas on what the best pillar mount to go for?

p.s. I, as some of you may already have guessed, am not very good when it comes to fitting things/electrics/mechanics - always afraid of ruining something! (I'm a designer for god sake! :D) Its a pity SEAT dont fit these in the dash as standard

If anybody lives in staffordshire and would be willing to spare the time to show me how to fit things like gauges, give me a hand with things like smoothing airboxes etc at some point- it would be greatly apprecited, i'll give beer money etc

cheers

Only thing wrong will my nomad pillar is the screw and "numberplate screw cover" they use, as because as you know it's there your eye always sees it.

PM Nev_LCR for more info.

Dont think Nev makes them anymore :(

I have the newer version of the Nomad Piller (older version was velcro attached, and some people found that it would "come a-drift" sometimes.

Anywho, Have to say that I don't actually notice the screw & cover that much...if at all, and with a bit of DIY it's fairly simple to carefully remove one of the fixing points from the old pillar cover, and uber-glue it onto the Nomad one, then just a bit of plastersizer to fill the screw hole, and it will attached to the original fixing point at the top.

Ok ta, will try it without the plastic "cover".
Mates saw the pillar last night and were very impressed with the fit of it :)

Guessing it's a beige pillar...might be able to get some sort of paint to colour the top of the screw to match...is easier with the LCR, as it's a black pillar, and black screws are readily available!

Didnt think the colour match was too bad on mine.
Know what you mean about the smooth surface around gauge bits, but TBH you don't notice it once installed, as it's kinda out of view.
