Hey All,

My Nomand boost guage has starting acting erratic since the recent cold snap with bad readings and sometimes it doesn't even go into positive boost. So today i had an hour free and decided to investigate, checked all the hoses in the bay and checked/serviced my 007p DV.It was still acting the maggot so i removed the pillar inside the car, the first think i noticed was there was water droplets in the vaccum hose, its a clear vacuum hose so you can see the moisture clearly.LOL.

Anyway, how could water get in here, i know a water leak is the obvious answer, but the hose is fully sealed the whole way down to the FPR. The only real place moisture could get in is thru the dial itself, does this make sense? would there be enough moisture build up in the cabin for the guage to suck it in?

Anyone know how i would go about drying out the vacuum hose? and if there is moisture in the system it has to go somewhere, so could it have negative effects on the whole vacuum system itself?

sorry fo the essay!

i would say take the pipe of at the fpr and take it off the boost gauge.then either blow down the pipe or use a hairdryer to try and dry it out

Check the pipe for splits, the plastic ones tend to become brittle with heat and crack.. I'd advise getting some silicon vac hose to replace it with.

It'l be moisture from the air condensing inside the pipe.
Ideally silicone tubing would be better.

That fits, i was wondering where the moisture was coming from.

Yeah i noticed that, where it connects to the nipple on the rear of the guage the plastic is definetely harder.

I am gonna replace it all with silicon tubing and gonna tidy it up and re-route it while i;m in there.

thanks for your comments all, i will let you know how it goes, hopefully my gauage isn't knackered.

Well, i replaced all the hoses with silicone hose and the guage is knackered, luckily i got an FK automotive gauage that is very similar and was next day delivery, installed it and all is good again.

Just to add the FK gauge seem alot more sensitive and reacts quicker that my old auto gauge, maybe it was faulty from day one.....we will never know!
