noisey climate control in freezing??

Hi,

have only had my 05 tdi cordy for a month now and today was the first day of winter 1 degree. When i started the heaters on the car it sounded like an outboard motor / lawnmower / kid with cardboard in his bike spokes. It stayed still noisey for the journey to work. Could it be leaves in the system or knackered fans??

I asssume this isnt normal in cold weather, or do I need to take it back to seat with ten days of my warranty remaining? Am going to go out later today and try it when its warmer outside.

Any advice appreciated....

Fan blower, I would have thought. Possibly something has come loose in the intake hose and is bouncing off the blades, or maybe the motor bearing has gone and the whole fan is loose. Definitely get it checked out under warranty - it may need a new blower, and it shouldn't have worn out yet.

Is this the first time you have had the fan on for a while?

Sounds very much like glass has dropped down the air vents to me and its rattling around down there, a friend had a similar problem in a Toyota, the windscreen went and when they replaced it they managed to drop glass chunks in the vents.

Thing is to try the Fan with & without the Air Con engaged...................I had exactly the same "sounding" problem on my Climate Control & it was the "Clutch" that engages/disenages the Air Con Compressor.

Unlikely to be the aircon as it isn't meant to work below 5 degrees, and although it does, i've not known them to work below 2 degrees.
