:help:
i have encountered a problem in my new beeza(2008 cupra 180)
everytime i let the car stay in neutral(clutch not pressed) there is a metallic sound:help:.i have tried finding out what it is,and no one seems to have the answer.not even the stealers mechanics.
some say its the clutch, some say its gear oil,and some say its "contra-gear"(whatever that is).

it happens when the car is hot and cold.i put it in neutral, and then let go of the clutch = no gear = neutral.

has anyone encountered this problem?

ill be glad if you help me!

clutch pressed=no noise.
clutch out=metallic noise.

its not the clutch bearing because the clutch bearing makes noise when cutch is preesed in.

from those 2 listed symptoms i'd suggest the clutch and/or release bearing needs a checkover

clutch bearing shouldnt be making any noise really unless it's really worn out already ???

My gearbox came out at 50k for the same thing. Stealers treated me like a piece of sh!t, took them a week to swap gearbox bearings. 7.5k miles and 4 months down the road I was out of warranty and the problem re-occurred.

Seat now would not touch it with a barge pole and I spent hours on the fone to seat customer services.

So I went to my local "under the arches, so I'll take cash[B)]" style mechanic's had the gearbox out and they sent it to a gearbox specialists round the corner. They immediately rolled eyes like, "not another PD gearbox with exactly the same problem. It turns out a spring or something starts boring its way thru the gearbox casing and stuff goes loose.

All in all I felt shafted but when the gearbox went back in it felt better than new, changes where slick as fook and hardly any lateral play in the gear lever.

Anyway, just hope it is the thrust bearing cos its a damn site cheaper than a full gearbox recondition!

Does anyone reckon I should set up a forum naming and shaming dealers for poor service? I've got a spare server at work and plenty of bandwidth. Would I get in trouble legally?

you probably will get in trouble.in order to avoid trouble, you have to keep evidence of the incidents, give the dealers an opperunity to reply and suck things, aint that simple...
