Hi duno if this is in the right section, its a problem but not a seat related one!

my head unit (pioneer) lights up and plays, but no sound is coming out the speakers, no sound whatsoever. It was working fine the other day, but this morn there was no sound.

ive got an amp and sub in the boot.

any ideas?

cud it be the fuse from the amp? if so, where can i get one from?

thanks in advance

right ive changed the fuse on the amp, and still no joy. the power light on the amp is still red (it shud be green) and the light for the fuse isnt on either.

ive checked the wiring to the amp and its all fine, then it runs under the carpet on both sides, and runs to the dash, i dont know much about installs, so how do i check if the wiring is hooked up to the HU ok?

If the light on the amp is green, it could indicate that there is a wiring fault such as short circuit at the speaker terminals. Might be worth disconnecting the sub and see if the amp powers up properly then.

How is the amp trip cable connected to the head unit (bullet connectors, or dare I say it 'dreaded scotchlok'). I know someone who's blue cable (powers amp trips / external power aerials or aerial boosters I think), became sheared between the head unit and the stereo cage. That circuit then blew and he had to use an independent feed for the amp and install a standalone switch to turn on and off. When he forgot to turn the switch off on cold days it used to drain the battery!

youve got the fuse on the far right which ive already relaced with no joy.

the next from the right is the +12 volt connection

middle one is the remote connection and last one is the earth

right for some reason when i un-screw the gold screw and move the remote connection about (as shown in pic) the speakers/sub start playin, but if i leave it, or screw it back in securely it stops playing.

Does it have a bad connection at the end of the remote turn on lead? Try chopping off the connector, striping the end of the insulation, and wiring it into the terminal. If it works again, fit another connector and see if it still works. Don't know if it will work, but it is what I would try.

When you connect the remote wire back in and screw it down securly, and when the speakers dont work, test between the REM terminal and the GND terminal to see if you have got 12 volts. If you have got the 12 volts and the speakers/sub are still not working this means you have a problem the the amp itself (maybe a dry joint on the circuit board).

sounds an awful lot like a dodgy connection in the amp - test the voltage between the 12v & gnd aswell...

ive tried the above, and the red (protection light) was still on, even when i pulled out the REM lead.

if its a prob with the amp, why does the sound still work when i move the connection lead about?

if i strip the wire down as suggested above, wud i be able to get a lead an end like that from a shop?

Yes, you should be able to get one of those connections. They sell them in motorfactors, including halfords. You can also get them from electrical shops shuch as Maplin or Wilko (in the diy section). Hardware stores probably sell them too. They just crimp onto the end of the cable.
