No power to switched ignition lead

Hi - I'm trying to fit a sony hu to my car but I'm getting no power to the switched ignition lead. have checked all fuses and there seem alright (could it be a fuse??? or is the lead shagged?).
Someone at work suggested I ran both yellow and red wire into the permanent live, would this be safe to do??
any suggestions /help would be much appreciated.

Shouldn't have any problem wiring them both to the permanent live (so long as the switched lead has a suitable fuse on it - cos they don't often need much current)

Unless you've got an adapter, the switched and permanent will be the opposite way round on the Toledo too ;)

Thanks for reply, yeah I have an adapter. What kind of a fuse would it need ? (one of those glass ones that look like the ones in household plugs??) and what amp rating ?
thanks Jorell

It seems my fuse checking abilities are not up to scratch. Fuse 37(contact) had blown. Now power is restored to switched power lead and new stereo is fitted and working. sorted . cheers for the advice
