No fault found

...after running vagcom, but there definitely is!!

Got myself a cable, downloaded the free version of 409 software from RossTech website, but when I run it there are no faults found.

The problem is, I've had the engine diagnostic light on for a few days now. I think its the coolant temp sensor, but just wanna make sure.

Is it possible that some faults dont get picked up with the freeware? Or has anyone got any others ideas?

Cheers

If your ECU would have a fault code stored, VAG-COM would show it - no matter if it's shareware or full version. The only difference between the 2 is that the full version would also show a text explanation for each code, while the shareware only shows descriptions for a fraction of them.

In other words, if there are no codes shown, then your ECU decided that the problem isn't "current" anymore - but you can still check the sensor values by looking at the meas. blocks.
