Im sure you know this.. but just in case:

what temperature is it set at when you try this?

As its climate control, if the ambient temperature is around or below the temp selected it wont be cold as the system knows it doesnt need cooling to achieve the temperature.

If you put it on 'low' and make sure ECON is off then it should be cold.

(aircon is part of the climate control).

It may well be a slight leak in your A/C system. I had this with my last car.

Take it to your local trusted garage and get them to re-charge the air con with a Dye type additive and check for leaks.

That'll sort out your cold air, and if there's any leaks it can now be attended to.

Does the snow flake sign come on when selected and stay there?

Different system on the Ibiza to the Leon - no snowflake symbol.

To get cold air - press auto and dial temperature down to 'LO'.

Check that 'ECON' is off.

If this doesn't work, then it's likely a gas problem on a car of that age.

Had it vagcom`d and had the error AIR FLOW MODULE SENSOR FAULTY , but Seat have never heard of this fault . The vag com also shut the flaps so no air at all coming in & the ambient temp seems to be stuck on 19 . There is no sound of the compressor kicking in , Any ideas please he`s skint & cant really afford to regas & have a diagnostic at the mo

Disconnected the battery for 10 mins , everything is working fine now ???????

Ah, that sounds a bit like my wife's Polo 9N - the climatronic controller gets screwed up when you carry out a full scan. The only way to check how things are is to scan the A/C first and note any faults, then do an auto scan - at which point it can't talk to the A/C controller - then remove the climatronic module to "unscrew it" - connect to it and perform basic settings so that the flap motors find their open and shut positions - job done. I seem to remember that the Polo 9N A/C controller is a Siemens device and is not fully compliant for talking to.

Hi guys, I'm having a similar problem and I hope you can help.
My aircon works fine at night but doesn't cool well during the day, thought it might need gas as the car is 3 years old so I took it to the dealer to have it serviced and regassed. I had taken it 2 days earlier for a service (same dealer, problem was already there but I forgot to mention it) and they said there were no fault codes on the car. Now they're saying the signal from the climatronic to the compressor is weak and they need to change the climatronic computer which is of course quite expensive, and that there is nothing wrong with the compressor or the gas.
However, the compressor does turn on with the AC and does blow cold air (though not as cold as it should). Car is out of warranty and I'm quite sure the dealer has no idea what they're talking about but unfortunately I'm in Mexico and there is not a single shop I trust 100% so I'd like to know what needs to be done before spending large quantities of money while different shops try out different solutions.

Thanks

I would just get it recharged first, as this will cost a lot less than the work they suggest!
Go for the cheaper, more obvious solution first... after all, they said you had no fault codes! If it solves the problem, great!

update

OK, finally got the car back from the dealers, and it appears they really have no idea what to do so they just decided that changing everything would solve the problem.
So, after doing some research this is what I found:
4 error codes, 33.3, both fan communication errors and the compressor engagement error (don't have the codes handy right now) and I searched several forums to check what might have happened and it appears that while wading through deep water something got wet and interrupted the communication between the climatronic and the compressor, causing the error codes and the computer to stop working properly. Everything's dried out now so I reset the codes and so far it seems to be working fine but I still have to try it out in the scorching sun so I'll let you know in a few hours.
I'm still unbelievably mad that the dealers wanted to charge me around us$1000 just for trying out what they thought would fix the problem when they didn't even know how to read the fault codes.

Thanks for the ideas though, apart from this it might be a good idea to re gas the system but not at that place.

Regards

happy

Just took it out, with 4 people on board on 38°C heat and it struggled but it's working, hope it keeps doing that. Guess that $1000 job at the stealers could be fixed by just resetting the fault codes, so they'll be hearing soon from Consumer Rights.
I found the instructions for this and what each fault means in another forum so I'll post them here when I get home.
Without this and other forums I would have been doomed so thanks a lot to everyone!
