Hi Guys,

My climatronic is duffed up!

Problem:

If you set the temp to "HIGH" you get nice hot air as requested.
If you set the temo to "LOW" you get nice hot air, which you don't want!

Turfed out the old VAG COM from the boot, and im getting the following error back:

Address 08: Auto HVAC Labels: 1M0-820-043.LBL
Part No: 1M0 820 043 E
Component: 1M-CLIMATRONIC X0702
Coding: 00041
Shop #: WSC 06402

1 Fault Found:
01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68)
41-00 - Blocked or No Voltage

So im guessing that i) there is a fuse or a relay out somewhere, or ii) the v68 motor had died a death.

I therefore have two or three questions.

1. I have checked the fuses and cant spot anything obvious. Does anyone know if this motor is connected to a relay, and if so which one?

2. If the motor is dead, does anyone know where the hell it is?

3. Does anyone know the part number, and how much a stealer will rape me for?

Any help is really appreciated.

Many thanks,

Matt

I read when there were the threads about the twin fan mod that the air con unit was £1,300. Do you have a problem with the twin fans pulsing?
Have you checked to see if the twin fans spin atol?
Sorry don't know much about the air con its self
Have you had a look for 'secret air con codes' or something like that, can't remember what all it tells you but def aircon stuff

Hi thanks for the response.

The air on "LOW" isn't just ambient air temp from outside... it's actually red hot air, same as on the "HIGH" mode.

I think the diverter flap that switches the air over isn't working....

Don't think is has anything to do with aircon?

VAGCOm taps the temperature control flap servomotor and your symptoms bear this out. The servo is directly attached to the Climatronic control unit, no fuses or relays involved, at least according to the wiring diagrams.

I've never had to look at the cabin air system, but Elsawin puts the flap lever and servomotor on the drivers side of the central console, above the footwell vent.

There is an association with air conditioning in the sense that Climatronic is an airconditioning system, using both heating and cooling elements to adjust the cabin air temperature and humidity to some extent. There is a tendency to translate "air conditioning" as "the bit that cools the air" wheras it really means the whole system.
