No bluetooth audio streaming. Who's the culprit?

Hello mates!

I'm having a situtation here, supposedly my Leon came with full bluetooth capabilities, I can make and receive calls without problems, however, I can't stream audio from my phone even though it's A2DP compliant (it's a SE WT19).

I tried configuring and enabling this feature from my RCD 310 unit but the option is simply nowhere to be found. I also tried with the robo-talking lady that speaks when you press the steering wheel's button but the option isn't there either.

At first I thought it was a problem with my RCD unit not being capable of supporting this feature, but from what I've been researching this could actually be related to the bluetooth kit installed in my car.

The car was bought brand-new in 2011 and, to my surprise, the 2012 models which have the same exact head unit and supposedly the same bluetooth capabilites, do have this BT-Audio option available.

So, any ideas of what could be the problem here?

Thanks in advance.

I thought A2DP was only on premium bluetooth, the standard bluetooth only did the phone calls.

Check to see if the unit is a premium bluetooth.

If remember correctly its only the 315 media system 2.2 that allows music streaming.
Definitely the media system 2.0 (310) doesent have it.

Cheers mates. How would I know the version of my media system and, for that matter, if my BT kit is premium or standard?

Here some pics of a Leon FR with the same head unit than mine's but with the BT Audio option available:

It's not that clear to me what I should change/upgrade in order to have the audio streaming feature available, whether it is the head unit, the BT unit, or just a simple configuration through vag com.

Those options look exactly the same as mine and I've no problem streaming BT audio from my Galaxy S2 or Iphone 4s..

All I do is launch the music player on the phone and star playing a track then hit the media button on the car and hit the BT Audio option.. Music normally then out puts from the car speakers.. Obviously the phone needs to be connected to the car via BT in the first place, but if you're able to make calls then thats already done..

Yes mate, but for some reason these options are not found in my RCD 310... :(

The Leon from those pictures is a 2012 1.8 TSI FR and is less equipped but has the same BT kit as mine (apparently not), so that's why I'm trying to find out what's different there...

Cheers!

Yeah, same thing with me, ddc. I honestly do not know why audio streaming isn't working for you, VAGUE. I used a couple of BlackBerry phones and an iPhone 4S and they streamed fine, whereas my friend's Nokia only made phone calls but did not stream music. By the way, you have to let the device play the song first and then press the "MEDIA" button on your RCD310 in order to see the bluetooth-audio option, but you probably already know that.

What phone are you using?

I mate! As I mentioned before, my phone is a Sony Ericsson WT19, but I don't think that's the problem because I've tried with other phones but the BT-Audio option simply won't show up. :(

Anyway, could any of you guys who have this option available share your BT unit model? Probably the difference is there.

Thanks in advance!

OK so here's my BT unit, a plain 5K0 035 730:

BT_UNIT.jpg

From what I've been researching this unit does support audio streaming, however, the information I've found isn't as accurate and reliable as I'd wish...

Some people even say both units (head and BT) need to be wired in a special way for the feature to be enabled, so now we have one more possibility...

So it now comes to

  • Head unit
  • BT unit
  • Vag Com conf
  • Wiring

Which one's the one I have to change in order to have the BT audio streaming option enabled??? We'll see...

I have played with VAG-COM and didn't see anything related to that in the Bluetooth configuration. I'll try again tomorrow and post screen shots if you'd like.

I don't mind sharing my BT unit model number as long as you tell me how to do that. :D

Cheers mate! That'd be so nice from you, I'd really appreciate it :)

You can gain access to your BT unit by following the instructions from this video:

Of course, you would also need to take it off from its styrofoam cover, if that's ok with you. :D

If it's any consolation (probably not) I have the same issue on my B6 Passat - I have the BT Audio option on the HU but can't stream audio?

Well mate, I have the same system as the Leon in those pics but don't have the BT-Audio option... I guess your problem is worse than mine... probably your phone isn't supported by the BT unit?

I have this system, but don't even have this option on mine :(

Same as me, mate :(

Sorry for the quality of the unit, blame BlackBerry not me. :D

Hope they help!
