Been looking at plugs as title suggests. which are better and which have people used/prefer?
NGK Iridium IX
Bosch Super 4

Obviously the Bosch plugs are half the price, any reason for this?
Also if anyone has used either can they list the part numbers for them so i make sure i order the right ones.

cheers:D

The manual quotes NGK Iridium as being the standard for my V5, I suspect it may be the same for the Cupra's. Although they also quote a cheaper alternative, but I've never thought the saving in money is worth the potential loss in performance or reliability.

CupraCraig should have some results from switching back to NGK PFR6Q from the NGK Iridium BKR7EIX.

Me and CupraCraig got very poor results on AwesomeGTI RR day, so CupraCraig booked his car into R.S Tuning for a 3hr session of RR/Logs......

He is still massivly down on power for a LCR 225, figures of 240ish HP on a stage 2. And 204HP on stock map.

Bloke at R.S Tuning says there is something mechanicaly wrong with his setup, compression tests completed and came back fine.

He mentioned his NGK Iridiums and the tuning guy said these don't work well on the LC/LCR. Timing was out by 6 degrees so he told him to go back to NGK PFR6Q plugs, he is booked in next week so will get the results.

We will see!

I have to admit to quite liking the NGK 7s but my car is virtually stock, I thought it was the denso irridiums that had the poor reputation?

Gaz if your car is stock just stick with the original heat range in the NGK plug!

From what I understand all the Iridiums are not very well suited to the 1.8T setup. I have no proof yet though, but should know more after Friday.

Update:

Car is now fitted with stock NGK plugs and pushing 257HP. No timing pull at all, boost curve a lot cleaner.

So plugs do make a difference from my experience. Still down on power slightly but the RR is warm, so no doubt the open road will show even more increase in power.
