ok have had a little search but to no avail

I am now wondering whats the next stage of my progress

Cars a Pd150 Derv

Currently have the following done

Engine

Carbonio intake
Miltek decat turbo back exhaust system
i assume some form of remap or chip unsure what / where as this may have been done before i bought it , have fitted everything else mind :)
i recently donee a rolling road session and made 198.7bhp & 293.0 lbft so assume with what ive done somethings been done (need my boost gauge fitted to see what she's boosting )

Handling
weitec suspension kit
S3 upper & lower braces

Brakes

Std but is next on my list of to do's

So i basically want to know whats next in line , ive replaced the bump stops etc while doing the suspension

so guess i need to uprate some bushes and maybe arb , but power wise what

i know hybrid & clutch , but is there anything else i can do /get to move forward

cheers

Andrew

As Jonjay said... what is your aim, as it hard to pick a route and then progress further after that without throw huge amounts at it again, and replace everything you already upgraded.

Me and jonjay have very similar set ups in handling and settings, but different power outputs, this means different aims.
Then you look at the direction I'm going now with my car, if Jonjay would do try and do the same, alot of parts and changes would be need to accomadate it, basically re doing alot of work he already has done.

Clutch is a big thing for me for anyone looking to get more out of the TDI.
After that, it gets to personal preference.. engine mounts, ATB diff, pipework, intercooler, turbo, bushes, head/cam work, injectors, meth injection, air intakes, manifolds, downpipes, tyres.... the list is endless..

I believe there are some specially-blended diesel fuels out there, you could try one of those ? Apparently they're sold in drums, and I understand they can make big differences to how well your engine performs.

Sorry :D

ye ye had it coming , cheap diesel is not always cheap :( and still for the recor it wernt RED

i want concorde power 10'000bhp

well im just wanting to know what can be achieved next on the routes ive taken so far , Plus still being reliable as a daily driver and cheapish to run

Plus these upgrades have to be reasonabley cost affective (i,e i dont want to spend 3k and gain 10bhp out of it

House & Kid n all that

so from research i gather my next things to consider is

rear brakes

ARb' s

Rear strut brace

Clutch

Not sure to get a remap ,after that ot whether to keep saving for a hybrid then mapping

i want a quick car but not wanting to spend 10 k on acheiving it , could spend that on an already fast car

cheers

If I was you I wouldnt do the turbo route just yet.

I would definately do Anti Roll Bars and I would definately do clutch when yours starts to go.

Rear brakes can be made with new LCR discs and a adaptor spacer on the OE FR rear caliper,

ARB's i would advise, at least on the front, although rear strut brace isnt really required in my eyes, although its all down to personal taste.

Clutch is a good start base for most mods and allows you to use a remap to full use not having to worry about clutch slip if you catch it on a wrong gear.

Although saying all that, its going to be still alittle expensive, £700 for a clutch, £300 remap, arbs, £300 odd..

About it really. ARB's and 312 conversion for now.

Clutch plus map for later.

Also uprated dog bone mount is a good mod although I might be changing from Powerflex to THS performance ones. Sometimes the vibes can be annoying.

Discuss?

Also a short shifter is a cheap quick mod and highly regarded.

Dog bone mount i find isnt that bad for transferring vibes, but engine mounts will... lol i know i have them!

With dog bone mounts, VF engineering do one, Powerflex (although a little hard after there warehouse fire thing), Superflex, and Super Pro all do ones the same to Powerflex. Good for stopping the TDI "skipping" on hard pulls.. but as said, without a clutch hard pulls on a remap arent advised.

The short shifter is a good call husband... well worth the little money for those, makes the gearbox feel alot more sporty.. as it should be ona FR/Cupra really i feel!

already have the front to back forge adjustable on , thinkin of the side to side next

clutch started slipping last year before it was taken off road for a few months

since then its been holding fine

as for brakes , just sorted out an R32 front set up

need to do rears , and my calipers are naff , they only catch the centre of the disc , outer edge hasnt been used for a while , (all rusted up )

Would like a little less vibes and more OEM if I could - cake and eating it comes to mind.

Once settled in the vibes aren't too bad so don't get me wrong, would like it just that little smoother if I could.

nice andrew I wanted to do a thread like this

no need now will tag onto this

I basically want to make a CUPRA R 225 TDI

do the power af the R with a little more fuel efficiency

So far I have:
the Carbonio CAI - like Andrew
SS Cat Back System - Soon to be Turbo Back

Next on list is Clutch as mine is Noisy/ Rough on idle with clutch Not depressed
Sort Brakes and Suspension

Then onto Power obvious remap
what else?

Hard boost pipes Larger intercooler

To get the matching power on a true 225bhp, you need a hybrid turbo to be honest, but to have a "road matched" TDI, a remap and clutch a few choice handling mods will get you on par with a standard Cupra R... brakes will need upgrading to something similar brembos too though.

To really hit the figures that the Cupra R has, you need to hybird the turbo, and that opens cans of worms like nothing else, with boost pipes, got remap, tyres to handle the extra torque, diff to power it down without throwing the steering out....
The intercooler is good for much more than even a hybrid would require, but the boost pipes after a hybrid are a weak point with the boost values you create then!
