Next Performance upgrade

Hi ...

I would really appreciate some opinions on what I should do to my LC next.... as I have got the modifying bug at the moment. My car isn't new (2000 W) but is has only done 55,000 and is running well at the moment. So far I have had a remap by STAR (to 215bhp & 220ft/lbs), along with a Forge DV and K&N panel filter, otherwise it is 100% std. I had been thinking along the lines of a full Milltek exhaust system (inc sports CAT). I have somewhere in the region of £1000 to spend so ideas would be great

Thanks

Chris

Forget the exhaust a £1,000 for 10bhp isn;t worth it IMO

Uprated Suspension something like Koni RSD's and some Anti-roll bars
Front strut brace is cheap and easy too

or

Brake upgrade to Brembo's or AP ? you will need to make sure your wheels will still fit though, Badger 5 is the place for brakes

Whatever you do I would always recommend
Shortshifter for the gearbox - Circa £80-£100 for the part (EIP, Neuspeed and dieselgeek all do them)
Dog Bone Engine Mount between £25-£80 (part only) depending on what you get and well worth the money

I'd go with suspension work. Shocks & springs ( maybe coilovers - personal preference), an ARB kit, maybe some powerflex bushes - see if you can get a deal on fitting. If anything spare, dogbone mount and maybe a braided brake line kit. I think you'd get more value for money doing that than blowing £600 + on a snazzy exhaust :)

When I compared 2 similar LCR's one with Stage 2 and full Miltek exhaust and the other with stage 1 and suspension mod's, I guarantee the car with suspension mod's was faster 95% of the time on the road.
i just like to get the power first in my opion then the handling, just impatiant

how much more bhp do you get from a,for example full BF turbo back system to say the same but only cat back?

i understand the logics behind the bigger d/pipe etc but is the gain worth it for the money?

my mindframe is to get things like exhuast/induction etc done before remap, then get more for your money on the remap
suspension is quite low on my list, wld rather have wheels changed first

im in need of anti roll bars, struts, dog bone mount etc but other things are ineed first, power is always more important to me

Not in My opinion, obviously it's difficult to prove but here goes, Run on the same RR on the same day and a few hours apart

LCR #1
Revo, Milteck Sports cat & Full system, Samco intercooler hoses, K&N Panel Filter

LCR #2
Revo, Bailey DV, Green Panel Air filter

LCR #1 produced 10lbs/ft of torque more and spools slightly earlier

Dyno lottery who knows?

This thread is about the guy is post#1 and he has a remap, anybody who believes that an induction system and exhaust add any more than 5-10bhp on a 1.8T engine I'd love to see the evidence......5-10bhp for £1,150 spent doesn;t seem very good VFM to me as on the road it means zero extra performance

Well it's looking like the Suspension upgrade is the most popular option for me. I have already had the remap so the exhaust doesn't seem a good idea (I have heard that opinion before)... does anyone know a good garage in Newcastle upon Tyne? I have been looking at Revolution in Gateshead but don't know anything about them.

When it comes to changing the exhaust on my LCR, I shall be doing it purely for cosmetic purposes. I don't think a full £1k+ system is going to give me £1k+ worth of gain.

I'd rather be able to get the power I have down onto the road and hold that power while cornering, instead of having more power but bouncing off the road or having to back off a bit.

Revolution have been around for a while now and are friendly and seem knowledgeable enough. It's 7 years since i lived up there though so there may well be other 'good' people to use. Not sure if swift motorsport in peterlee are still doing the rounds?
