Newby, help!

Hi guys, I need some help!

Just got myself a 1.9d van ibiza to kick around in, however I need some advice on a few of things.

1) What fuse number operates the cooling fan?

2) Should the tops of the front struts move about? i.e bang from side to side. I get a really funny feeling in the steerin going round corners, and when I jacked the car up the struts just bang around!

3) Can someone explain what the little orange light does? the one that you have to wait to go off before starting. Mine is very intermittent, sometimes I have to turn turn the ignition on and off 20+ times before it comes on! If I can understand what it is I might be able to fix it.

top mounts 'going' are notorious on the Mk2's... only about 20 quid or so from GSF.. the little light should be a 'glow-plug' light .. you wait for it to go out before engaging the ignition not too sure about the fuse , sorry

Does that light mean the glow plugs are warming up?

So why is my light only coming on intermitently? could it be a simple change of glow plugs required? Or should I be checking for loose connections, bad earths etc?

I'll try replacing the fuse and see what happens, as for the top mounts i'll try changing them. I had a look at trying to dismantle the top strut and looks a bit tricky, when I tried turning the nut on the top the whole thing just spun with it?

Just searched the forum and Google, can't find any info on replacing top mounts.

If someone could give me an idea how to undo the main bolt at the top of the strut that would be great.
