The 143 is great all round. However, if "the grin factor" is part of your requirement, seek out and 170. Same engine size, insurance and tax not much greater than the 143. Wish I'd done that.... Still for all round practicality and a car to be proud of, the 143 ST is a good choice....

Thanks for the welcome . I dont mind the saloon or st and the 143 is prob ok i have a kit car and a 944s2 for the grin factor does the 170 come with the sat nav as id rather have the 143 with it. Than the 170 without it The car i mentioned drives nice feels solid and has lots of toys in it . Its one of the best priced ive seen without tavelling miles . Its had the throttle body changed is this a common fault . Anybody selling one for that kind of spec and money ? Cheers sam

Welcome.

Both the 143 / 170 come with Sat Nav, - look for one with the "Tech" pack, they come in SE and Sport trim levels. IIRC they come with Leather too (mine did as a Sport Tech + xenons).

I have a 170 and it's quick enough in a car of this size, I've not driven a 143. The brakes are bigger on a 170 and I've read reports the 143's are not the car's best feature...

.. That said the gearing on the 143 equals better MPG at motorway speeds. The 170 has a closer ratio gearbox so over 70mph and you'll be seeing low 40s on ave. mpg. But I 'm happy I made the choice to go for a 170 as the engine feels muscular and unlike other diesels I've driven, it keeps pulling hard in the higher rev ranges.
