Evening all

My name is Tim, im 24 and im a Highways technician/Inspector. I've just got myself a lovely V5 Toledo and found this place which will no doubt be of tremendous help to me as my Toledo needs some TLC!!! I've bought it mainly to be comfortable daily driver for my job as my other car (Citroen Ax GTi) was impractical to say the least (buckets, harnesses, tuned engine, lowered etc etc) so this is my economical (its all relative ;) )practical car

Picked it up from ebay for a miserly £1800 from a dealer in Farnham, Surrey.
Drives really nicely and sounds glorious but has been a tad neglected unfortunately. Still it beats paying shed loads for a VW or Audi equivalent :) and it doesnt half shift feels solid at silly speeds on my private test track ;)
95000 miles, no history, 17" Audi RS4 replica wheels, and all the usual kit inside (1/2 leather etc).

Anyways the faults it has currently are:
*Drivers side rear window doesnt go up or down. Motor works and guide rails go up and down but glass stays put

*Drivers side rear door (again) doesnt open from the inside (not the childlock) and the door pin goes up when its locked and down when its unlocked  Opens from the outside ok though!!

*there is a swimming pool behind the drivers seat (its been standing a while.....) Know from what ive read and heard it is the window regulator that needs re sealing is there a write up on that as ive heard its a common problem?? It also means the interior smells damp and there is mildew forming :(

*finally it didnt come with a handbook so i cant get the memory function on the seats to work or certain other bits?!?!?!?!anyone got a spare???

Anyway enough of my ramblings look forward to hearing your comments
Nice site :)
Tim

Im definately loving the sound, my Ax GTi has a 106 rallye cast inlet manifold on it and that noise was addictive but this is nice as well. My first car a fiesta had a K&N on the carb and you could hear it sucking air in lol im just addicted to good sounding cars :)

Didn't fully read your first post. As it happens I do have a spare dog-eared Toledo handbook (and I mean dog-eared). If you PM me your address I can post it to you (though I think you need 10 posts to get PM facilities). One thought first though. Have you checked in the really narrow cubby hole directly under the steering wheel? It's easy to miss if you don't know it's there! In the meantime I don't have the handbook in front of me but from 'memory':

To set the memory seats. If the battery has been disconnected at some point (likely) you need to reset them. Do this by moving the drivers seat as far forward as it will go and then bring the seat back forward so the headrest is as close to the steering wheel as it will go. Do this with the ignition off.

Move the seat and mirrors to the desired position and ensure the red memory button is depressed. Then store the seats to the desired memory location by pressing and holding one of the location buttons (1, 2 or 3) until you hear a beep. Another driver can then move the seats and store their preference in another location by pressing and holding a different location button until the beep. Test by moving the seat and mirrors manually and then pressing your location button - the seats should move to the position you stored. It will only do this with the ignition off.

You can set the near side mirror to point down to the kerb when reverse is selected. Can't quite remember the full procedure for this but it's in the handbook. Don't use it much myself as I'm normally parked up before it has swivelled down!

If you need me to go through anything (as I have a '99 V5) we could always meet. Although I live in East Ham I travel to Forest Hill a fair bit and there's always places like Kidbrook Homebase or Maplins off the south circ which would be central. Hope that helped.

Cheers
Gray

Cheers Gray i will sling you a PM when i get my PM's enabled lol Im not desperate for the info as i can survive at the moment but the hand book would be cool. I found that cubby hole yesterday its handy, shame the doorbins are quite small compared to my ax (you can fit a two litre drinks bottle in them!?!?!?)

Yeah the door bins are cr*p. The shape means they can't hold maps (the a-z sits in the sleeve on the back of the passenger seat, and the little shelf under the glovebox can't do much either. I did however fashion lots of extra shapes out of the polystyrene surround to the spare wheel to hold loads of tools, bulbs kits, warning triangle, 1st aid kit etc. etc. Also the armrest lid made a perfect mount for a lifehammer. The handbook's yours when you get your PM sorted.

Know what you mean about the spare wheel well. Mines got too much space currently as it only has a wheel and bald tyre, and a stick?!?!?! randomly no jack or wheel brace or anything else!!!! Got to get a detachable towbar fitted soon so that can be stowed in there instead :)

Welcome along (alright so I'm a bit behind!!).
Sounds like some has been fiddling with the back door (smashed rear window maybe). I think you will find the answers to your rear door problem when you follow the guide that Gray has posted. Im not 100% sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if the interior handle rod is not connected to the latch. Not sure of the details as I have never opened one up before (just a well educated guess:D ).

Anyway glad to hear you are enjoying the motor. I still love the growl mine makes, and apart from petrol not too expensive to run either. Just sailed through the mot :D :D

yeah i looked at the door the other day and the serial no.s on the window were different so its had a new window, tbh i think its had a light nudge all round but not enough to worry about still. Tis leaking a tiny bit of oil now though will have to investigate that soon.....

Hi skinnylew, welcome to the boards! It looks like you found a peach of a deal with that lovely looking car. Nice colour and alloys too!

Funnily enough I bought my v5 from a dealer in Farnham around 3 months ago.
Good luck with sorting the car out and happy motoring - I hope you've got a speed camera detector - I've a had a few close ones!
