First off, let me say hi to everyone! I've owned a metallic black MKII Leon 2.0 TDi Reference Sport for just under a year now (bought it ex-demo at a lovely discount!) and I love it to bits. First thing I had done was get it switched from Fixed Interval to Variable servicing so saving myself a small fortune there!

I'm racking up a fair few miles for work and just fancy a bit more power to play with, but nothing too conspicuous (no exhaust systems or shiny bits). Had a good look round the search on the forums and can't find too many people in the same boat as me- most people tend to tune the older 1.9 TDi's instead (apart from devonmikey, man, those graphs look impressive! Not quite got his budget though...). My first thoughts were remapping, it seems like a no-brainer really. The car looks the same but goes just that bit quicker. Bit worried about the remap getting wiped at dealer servicing though...

So, getting to the point, are there any remappers that have been tried and tested in the North East? Are there any known problems with remapping the 2.0 140 PD? (I've read about particulate filters getting clogged up and the like- is that just confined to the 170?). And if I remap, do I need to make any further changes to cope with the power (clutch? air filter?) or can I just leave it at that- I reckon 180bhp would do for my modest needs! Also, how real is the dealer-wiping-out-your-£500-mod danger, and is there a way round it?

Looking forward to hearing from you all,

Ben

i would have thought the best way to avoid the dealer wiping your remap would be to get one of those SP1 things from revo, where you can turn your remap on or off... just turn it off before a service :) not cheap tho

is it as simple as that? is there literally an on/off switch somewhere with that package? forgive me if this sounds a bit simple- as the tag implies- newbie here!

Hello

The 140 PD engine remaps very well and the figure of 180 BHP is a sensible figure to aim for. The torque is what needs watching, is the car 6 speed manual or a DSG gearbox?
Dealers do not often update the software at servicing time and any decent tuner would re-remap your car for free if this ever happened.
An sps switch would not help in this case, all it does is swap between two maps held in the ECU. If the dealer updates the software these maps will be wiped from the car.

Hi mate,

The car is a 6 Speed manual- I'm guessing from posts in other threads this should make any remap easier to live with, shouldn't it? As far as the clutch goes, will my current setup be the same as the 170 FR's- and if not, will the plates from a 170PD clutch i) fit straight into my car and ii) cope easily with the extra torque?

Thanks again for your helps guys

A sensible remap will not harm the clutch on your car. Go for it this engine remaps very well

Cheers for the reply. Only question now is- who does antbody know of in the north east that can do it?

The drive/friction disc of your clutch is the same as on the PD 130/150/160 cars, the pressure plate and flywheel is different though. As for remaps the PD140 has been out for several years now and is quite straight forward to map unlike the PD170 with the DPF, most people who sell maps can do you a remap. P-torque and Bell who advertise on this site both have a very good name for themselfs and sale maps at a very good price give them a try.
