Newbie Intro & Allard TDI Tuning Questions!

Ehup Guys,

First off apologies for tainting your Seat forum with my registration! I drive a modified Mk4 Golf TDI. It's a PD115 with RamAir Induction Kit, De-Cat Pipe, Big-Bore Twin Exhaust, and Revo Remap. Styling wise it's lowered 40mm on Keskin KT2s - 18"X8.5" upfront, and 18"X9.5" on the rear, with an R32 bodykit to boot.

I will try and get some pictures up soon...

While I love my car to bits, I'm really interested in tuning the car further. Having researched around various different VAG forums, m'thinks that you guys are the most knowledgable when it comes to TDI tuning!

Having contacted Allard, I am considering the following:

1. Uprated intercooler system. .. £540.00

2. Uprated turbo VT3 (exchange). .. £675.00

3. Exhaust manifold to match. .. £225.00

4. Set of uprated injectors (exchange). .. £575.00

5. Uprated clutch assy. .. £387.00

6. Custom chip (if required). .. £425.00

Aswell as the 312mm Porsche Brake Kit and replacement front and rear ARBs from Awesome-GTI.

Allard believe I will get around 220BHP - what do guys think the torque figure will be? 350lb/ft is my guess?

A question for those of you with similarily tuned TDIs - what kind of 0-60 are you getting? And top speed - I top out at around 125MPH at the mo?

Cheers for all your help, and non-slating of my Golf! ;o)

Cheers

T

I take it those prices dont iclude VAT or fitting???

Any how, iv only got a remap, exhaust, filter on my PD130, its got around 175 bhp

Iv timed a 6.38 using a gtech and got 6.9 at Trax last year,

Top speed, im not sure, iv seen 140 on the clocks but don't know if thats accurate or not?

0-100 is around 18ish secs aswell,

Your golf sounds nice, get some pics up ASAP

Hope this helps ya

Nice one Sisson - much appreciated. They're really good times for 0-60 / 0-100.

As I'm sure you're aware, your actual top speed is probably less than indicated, but either way, it's 20MPH more than I've seen!

The Allard prices are without fitting / VAT. Labour charge is approx. £500, so all in all, with the taxman taking his piece, it should cost about £3700, plus another 2 grand for Coilovers, ARBs and Brakes, fitted.

I had some pics uploaded in a photobucket account, but now can't find the links - I'll upload this evening, and post tomorrow.

Cheers,

T

As I understand it they have a wide range of injector & nozzle combos - £975+VAT is the price for the fully-fledged race-spec, good for 260BHP+

What are you stats 'devonutopia'?

Ant, what are the figures for your TDI?

T

Standard injectors, but using Allards VT2 turbo and FMIC, combined with green filter, cupra intake & "special" exhaust - 221bhp & 360 lb/ft - Oh, and Jabbasport did the remapping once all the mods were done.

I had the highest PD TDI but who had a higher TDI then ?

I know of 1 PD and 1 Non-PD on here, both with more than 250hp. One was a Leon FR PD150 that belonged to Happymike. I know that one was down tuned to not break anything to 257hp and 590Nm. Can't remember the name of the non-PD one though.

last time around (he ran this for about 6 months before selling).

Stage 3 injectors (bigger than the normal uprated ones)
Hybrid VNT-22 turbo
Remap Stage ????
Oil & Fuel coolers
Full 3" SS exhaust (just pipework no backbox)
Clutch.

IIRC 440Nm was on standard injectors with a hybrid vnt17 turbo.
He went through at least 3 turbo and injector upgrades. I should have a RR somewhere at home:confused:

Thought you would mentio old mojo but as far as i am concerned that doesnt count because ever since steve bought simon coopers old drag race engine ( 250@fly and 230 @wheel ) which steve didnt tune or have anything to do with the engine he just happend to buy a used drag race engine that up to last month had never even been drivern on the road since simon had not finished fitting it to steve`s car.Simon cooper deservers the credit for that engine.

1st, if I got it right from his last mail, the engine has a new turbo, IC and some other stuff,,,
2nd there's so many people in here that go to tuners and spend a fortune and they don't even know what turbo was bolted on their car,,, they just have the money but don't even have a clue on how these engines work,,, at least mojo seems to know his stuff very well,,,
