Newbie Help Please

Hi folks, I am new here so please be gentle with me I have a 97 toledo tdi which I have owned for 10 months, my first diesel so I am totally lost, car has started to cut out while driving, the intervals are varied, I can drive for 1 day, 1 week, 2 months without any problems and when it goes it drives like a dream. The car has been into an independant garage twice and the codes were

Fault location 00765

1 Fuel quantity adjustmebt sensor
2 Wiring
3 Pump

Fault location 01268

1 Fuel quantity adjustment sensor incorrectly set
2 Wiring
3 Pump

I then put the car into a Seat dealership and the fault code was G149 intermittant and Seat says they are almost certain it is the pump for which they quoted £1299.
My question is does anybody agree that it must be the pump, if so it is bye bye toledo. Btw car is now a non starter.
Any help greatly appreciated.

£1300 for a pump! which pump is that?

is that a pump to get diesel straight out the ground!????

I have a feeling it may be the temp device inside the pump, which is not too dear or difficult to change, it's just a starting point, take a search on FRED'S -- are you sure the main power relay is Ok ? it's 109 from memory

After hearing about famous relay 109 I changed it months ago, so it is not that.

take a look on Fred's TDI http://forums.tdiclub.com for Wingnuts Howto's --fuel temp sensor if it's duff it will retard timing and make it hard to start I can't find ref' to any of these fault codes, maybe someone else can help on clarifying those
