New wheels going on tomorrow

Bought a set of Audi wheels a few weeks ago and would have fitted them already but wanted to make up some center caps to make the wheels look less Audi'ish.

Used some cheap Audi 68mm center caps, then ordered some 60mm badges from Spain as it's the only place I could find them with the newer chrome "S" style.

I like the Audi star caps but thought I would try these first.
Any thoughts which you guys prefer?

Or standard Audi caps??

Wish I put these on a few weeks ago now as it's a tad chilly

100% seat. Seen the first pics and thought wow they look nice then seen the audi ones and realised which wheels they were! Really don't like the look of the audi ones on the cars I've seen. But with the weird star centre cap taken off they look great

much better with the S...:)
put my winters on yesterday....expecting it to be cold. First time I've bothered...
forgot to recalibrate the tyre pressure sensor, which is probably why it popped up after 20 miles.

reset it and see if it goes off again

Glad you all agree with the S caps as that's why I held off fitting until I finished the caps :)

I was looking for some caps that would fit flush right in the bore hole but seem hard to find any as it's 60mm and inner clips need to be the same. Could only find universal jobbies and they looked a bit cack.

I even had to space out the inner clips on these Audi caps as the inner clips are 58mm which were still not tight enough to stay on properly, all good now though :)

The wheels themselves are fairly similar to the 19" Cupra wheels with a few subtle differences.

I was even thinking of getting the inner parts of the wheels sprayed darker as well like this...

But think I will keep them silver for the time being.

I always do some quick crude photoshops before deciding on wheels and thought they should look ok once fitted...

Will add some real pics tomorrow once I am done :)

Sprayed darker does look better, but can you be bothered just for winter, extra cost an all.

I think so too, but will be staying silver for the time being :)
Froze my ass off this morning washing the car, and by the looks of some people, I must be mental

Then swapped the wheels over and went for a little drive to make sure they are all balanced properly and all is good.
Here's a few pictures with the new wheels on :)

Pretty pleased with them overall, just a shame the car and wheels wont stay that clean for long

What did u pay for them s3 rims....they look ace

I was keeping an eye on sets for a while.
They were going for between £800-1K with tyres.
I paid £650 for mine with original Conti's with between 6-7mm of tread left :D
Did have to drive from London to Huddersfield to collect them though, so add another £50 for diesel, but was worth the trip :)

I actually bought a single as well as a spare so have 5 in all.

put my 17" Dynamics/Winter Nokians on this week.
Drove from herts to Nottingham and back in 4th and 5th to keep revs up for the DPF regen - typically 75-80mph and did 60.4 MPG on way up, and 56mpg on way back. Total since filling up yesterday (with some city centre and local miles) 57mpg.
well pleased....drove like a dream too.
So winters had NO effect on consumption.

You should have called in for a cuppa!

I did notice you're location when you posted earlier in the thread.
I told the guy I would be there around 5 but due to an accident on the M1, I got there around 8pm  just over a ten hour round trip for these wheels! and could have done with a cuppa as well :)

They should be pretty easy to clean and I do think about things like that when deciding on what to go for.
Nowhere near as easy as the 17" 5 spokes that Andrew is talking about though, quick and easy to clean.
Great mpg on the winters as well, and good to know :)
