Thought I had a puncture in a rear tyre this w/e gone,so round to the tyre shop for a repair."They cant be repaired" says the tyre man "they are so old the rubber is cracking up and loosing air". Looking at the date stamp shows made in 1997. So they are the original tyres fitted to the car. I was surprised there was so little wear after 11 years and 80,000 miles and there was about 6mm. off tread left. Is low wear on rear tyres normal for our wee cars? Cost off new ones was £69 all in so that should be ok for another 11years.

No idea how long they should last. I've had at least 5 punctures and 4 new tyres due to wear (2 punctures were repairable) in the past 12 months. And I don't think I hammer my tyres that much. The guy in the garage this morning said he'd never seen someone so unlucky as me with punctures.

I think ive have about 5 new tyres with puctures, im forever getting them, often in an unrepairable place too

The arosas dont seem to wear the rear tyres much, its often a good idea to put new tyres on the back and swap the rears to the front each time you need a new pair. That way they dont have time to perish.
