I'm soon to be in need of some new tyres.

Got Pirelli P7 tyres at moment but is there any others I should look at?

I've been using Matador MP46 Hectorra's for the past few years after having to fit some at the last minute to get the car through an MOT. Was very impressed for the money, so have carried on with them.
I get them from Camskill for about £53, but that's on a 205/46/16. I think on my Wife's FR they were nearer £65.

They aren't 'performance' tyres as such, but are perfectly decent for 'normal' driving.

I used to use Kumho KU31's but they used to wear unevenly on the rear tyres so gave up on them.

Hey guys

just an update, went for 2 Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tyres based on other reviews in and around the internet. I think I got them for a good price, £159.38 fully fitted, still not cheap but I think for this tyre a good price from Tyreleader.

The reason why I needed a new tyre in the first place is that when I had my Turbo replaced on my Ibiza (see other thread of mine) the dealership noticed one of my tyres was the wrong size! This came about couple of years ago when I first got the car and it had a puncture. No spare, just that stupid tyre repair kit which I didn't want to use so just blew it up and took it to nearest garage which was F1 Autocentre in Stevenage. They fitted the "correct" tyre and I paid them and went away. Well they have only gone and fitted a 215/45r17 rather than 215/40r27.

Now I know its only very slight but its still wrong and I wasn't very happy about it. I suppose I should have noticed it and I normally would but this has annoyed me as the tyre does have quite a bit of tread left on it but its not right for the car.

The dealership was surprised that no ABS warning lights were coming up on the dash due to the slight wrong circumference of the wheel. So for 2 and half years my car has been going around with the wrong sized tyre oh and which I was told would be an MOT failure too.

I will not be using F1 Autocentres again so just beware if you need to use them, I recommend that you don't.

For 215 40 17, one of the best is dunlop sportmaxx.
Had these on the front of my last 1.6TDI 105 and they were awful in the winter. I don't mean snow and ice just on cold roads they had no grip. Put Falken ZE914 on after snc they were way better

I'm driving these for 5000km , i didnt experience them in winter condions but their universal scores for wet grip is C class which is enough for me on paper. Maybe your tyres were old or there's another problem with them. If i observe such grip problem i'll write here.

Btw, there are more than 1 dunlop sportmaxx (rt,tt and another sport model) , i'm definitely talking about the regular sportmaxx not Tt,rt or cheaper sport labeled model...

Fair do's, mine bought new snd standard one. Good for 3 seasons but up to around 6-7deg they were very wheelspin prone.
2013 model I've now came on Conti's and they seem better.
