hi guys ive just bought a 53 plate seat ibiza 1.2 3 door, this is my first seat and ie got to say i was well impressed with the test drive,im hopefully picking up the car next tuesday and i cant wait.
i usually buy fiats but have been let down by niggly faults and rubbish dealerships,i could tell by the testdrive that this car is a world away from the rubbishy fiat quality that ive been used to,ill let you guys know how i get on.
does anybody know where i an get a nice cheap alloy/tyre package as at the mo ive just got the standard trims.

hello and welcome,

alloys are a must for ibiza's, depends what you want really, just remember that the ibiza has the same wheel fitment as a VW, AUDI and SKODA so there is loads of choice

anything up to 17" will prob be ok but 15" will prob be best for the 1.2

welcome matey  how could you followfiat they rust after 2 weeks  youve done the right thing to move to seat BUT IM NOT BIAS ;)

problems to look for when you pic it up and to haggle the dealer down are

steamed up headlamps
rattling dash
wind noise/leaking window seals
timing chain if needed soon! (think its 60k on the 1.2)
rear washer jet pipe popping off
pulling to the left
inner edge tyre wear

hope this helps you out mate and we want pics soon!

C U Next Tuesday

hi guys,i dont seem to be having much luck at the mo,i was just about to run out to derby today to pick up my car (i live in coventry)when the manager called me to tell me there is problems, apparently the engine management light came on after refueling,i didnt like the sound of this so ive cancelled my order problems from the start is something i just dont want, luckily locally i have found the same car only it is an 04 reg with 30k on the clock ,i got the dealer down to 4250 witch i thought was a fair price the only trouble is the air con seemed to be blowing warm, they have told me that it proberbly needs regasing and that they will sort it out,ive got my heart set on one of these cars but never thought it would be so difficult buying one,oh and the parcel shelf is missing and ive got 1 honda wheel trim(dont matter im gonna get some alloys anyway)anybody got any views, ill keep you guys posted and cheers, i should be picking it up on thursday i hope;)

Indeed, not a great start. The engine management light could infact just be a sensor problem (a couple of other members here have reported the light coming on also). However if you dont feel comfortable about it, fair play.

There are alot of SEAT dealers around, probably a safer bet than buying private, if you want added peace of mind and some kind of warranty on your purchase! Also alot more SEAT Ibizas there to choose from. :)

Re-gassing of the air con - suppose it depends how often it gets used (as to when it needs re-gassing). Anyway, as has already been mentioned, a straight forward job to do.

All the best with the SEAT you DO end up taking home, and hope you enjoy it! ;) :)

welcome to the mighty SCN!

I'm a 1.2. boy too!

try wheelbase for wheels and tyre packages, alternatively as a_waugh says check the for sale section!

1.2's are quite nippy actually, better than my old seicento...until i put my 17's on it then the acceleration died lol, but good cars, miles away from fiat built quality, the doors don't make a hollow rattle when you close em!!!
