New Pirelli tyre and pressure monitor - mixing Pirelli P Zero & P7s

I've just had a new tyre fitted following a puncture, on the front left one. I have the 17" Stylance wheels, with the standard 225/45/17 Pirelli P7 tyres. The tyre place have fitted a 225/45/17 Pirelli 'P-Zero Rosso' tyre. Is this a problem if the other front tyre is still the original P7 (tread is perfectly OK, only got 6k on the car)?

The reason I ask is that the Tyre Pressure Monitor light has come on 24 hours after the new tyre was fitted. Admittedly I don't know if the tyre place checked the pressures with the other wheels, and I haven't as yet checked them all. Should you check them and reset them with the button in the car as a matter of course whenever you change a wheel?

Or is the slightly ill-matching tyre (looks the same to me) a problem? Maybe it'd be an idea to move the fronts to the back? Any idea what the difference between P-Zero Rossos and P-Sevens is? From the Pirelli website it seems it's a softer, grippier 'ultra high performance' tyre. Less lifespan? Noisier?

From searching on here it seems that's what is fitted to the FR and Cupras?

I will check all four wheels and reset it, presumably if the light comes back on I should get it looked at?

Cheers

Rob

tyres dont matter, as long as theyre the same size, which you say they are.

the tyre pressure monitoring system is wrongly named really. it doesnt monitor pressure but wheel rpm, using the abs sensors.

as such other factors can affect it. uneven loads, road surface, long sweeping bends to name a few.

check the pressures, reset it, see what happens.

every time you change any tyre, you need to tell the system to re-calibrate.

To do this - press and hold the button for about 10 seconds. - This will then monitor the rotation speed of all the tyres and compare it to all the others.

The only time the alarm should then trigger is when the rotational speed of 1 tyre is outside of the normal tolerances it has monitored when compared to the other tyres...

make sense?

OK, cheers guys. I didn't really want to go to the expense or hassle of either changing the new P-Zero back to a P7 or swapping the P7 to a P-Zero.

So it looks like for left hand bends I will have 'ultra high performance' and for right hand bends just 'high performance'

I'm going to go outside now and give it a good going over, give the old girl a drink of oil and washer stuff as well :)

This could explain why my tyre pressure lamp came on whilst driving home from having 2 new rear tyres fitted...

I had the tyres fitted t the back, same make/size, all was OK until I had done about 10 miles and the light came on, reset, and "seemed" to stay off.....
