New owner?

Hi to everyone, I am seriously considering buying a new Leon, so I have a few questions for you chaps. Firstly have there been any major problems with the new leons.
Looking through the forums I can’t see anything major. What are the dealers like. My last 3 dealers BMW, Lexus and Mazda have all been excellent in sorting out any problems.
Lastly I can’t decide between a FR diesel or waiting for the Cupra to come out, think I will arrange a test drive in the FR at my local dealer in Derby. Used to have a Pug 306 D Turbo a few years back, I know Diesels have come a long way since then, but even with 90BHP it was good fun. Any comments or views would be most appreciated

Hi rex,
I currently have a Mk1 FR150 TDI & love it to bits. I test drive a Mk2 FR 170 TDI a week ago & had to order one as soon as I got back to the showroom. It drove brilliantly. A vast improvement on the Mk1 IMHO. Definately worth a test drive if nothin else.
My dealer (Droitwich) let me have the car on my own for an hour which was great. Maybe your dealer can do the same? Go for it.

Definitely agree about having the car to yourself on a test drive. How are you supposed to find if you want to spend 20K on a car after a 20 min drive with a salesman sat at your side? I hope it’s the policy of the dealer in Derby to let you try the car solo
Must admit I am tempted by a Diesel but I don’t know if I would miss the performance of a Petrol car. I would be keener if I knew for sure that it could be re-mapped to make it on par with the Vauxhall Ashtray 888. 200 BHP I think is their quote

Mk2 seem to have less issues than MK1 but time will tell.

Quality and service of dealers varies by area, some good some very bad, not really in lexus league!

Are you happy with the yellow, bluehaze? My Mk1 is Platinum Grey but felt that the Mk2 just had to be yellow.
I don't know if there's a Revo remap for the Mk2 170 FR but the remap for the Mk1 150 sent it to 180+, an increase of over 30bhp. So in theory, a similar increase for the Mk2 would push it over the 200bhp mark (could be wrong - haven't looked into it yet.)
There's always fuel economy & cheaper tax to think about with a diesel too.

The mark 2 is a slightly different yellow which i like too, I have no regrets. It is always a talking point, easy to find in the carpark, people seem to get out my way more. I love the colour. Lots of people hate it others love it too especially women which is cool.

It is the true marmite colour and SEAT sport racing colour.

Diesels have come a very long way since the 306DT indeed!
The current problems the re-mappers are having are with the particulate filters fitted to the PD 170 engines. There are maps available but not many and certainly not many in the UK due to these filters becoming blocked there is quite a bit of info on here regarding this. Incidentally the 170 TSI (1.4 super-turbo charged) unit is also giving tuners a few headaches due to it's complexity, though not something current generation Leon drivers will be worrying about for a while yet!
Something well worth looking at is that the 200bhp petrol FR model is now available with the DSG transmission, should be a hoot to drive!
