Welcome! Mine is 7 years old and last time it was on a rolling road (3 weeks ago) It had 182BHP. That was with 1 or 2 small mods, not really anything that i would think would give it much HP. So i would say no reason why yours hasnt still got 180!!

car should be running bang on the power, only things that will bring the power down is a faulty sensor of some sort

but these engines dont generally loose power through "tiredness" as they are pretty much bullet proof

Hi bega welcome to some serious power!! i got my 02 cupra 5 months ago and before that i was driving a 1.2 fiat which i thought was quite nippy and then got myself the cupra, nearly sh*t my self when i punched it! Trust me take it easy for a week or two and adjust to the power, handling etc. first although i still sh*t my self now.! enjoy.

oh is it 51 plate 2002 or 52 plate 2002.

Got mine on 61k miles at £5500 i was lucky this all makes me enjoy mine more.

I got my cupra about 3 months ago, similar age & mileage to yours. First off, I love it! :D

Things to ask/look for:
Has it has a new cambelt / water pump? My pump failed last month.

Check the fuel filter as well mine went last week. It's on drivers side just in front of the rear wheel.

Check the radiator fans are working properly.

these cars are awsome but don't go at it too fast they will have you in a ditch at twice the speed of your corsa

Wise words indeed, I've had mine about a year now, and the back end is a bit twitcy, so take it easy round those bends till your use to the power, very nearly had mine side ways a few times, when i first got it.. messing about thinking it was going to go round corners like my old car  all good clean fun tho'

Welcome to madness, you'll soon be spending way to much money... ;)
