Hi Guys,

Ive just put a deposit on a black 05 Cupra TDI with 30k on the clock and hopefully can pick it up mid next week.

I did have a Fiesta ST500 before but was written off a few weeks ago by a goon who couldn't drive a in a straight line. I really miss the car but hopefully a change is for the best.

Is there anything I need to look out for before handover etc..?

Thanks for any help and advice,

Scotti

if it donrt emaplin to them how is a space saver meant to fit over the big brakes, they should have to get you one, check the lower arm consul bushes as they are a comman thing to go on them, and knocking noise with the suspension...

rear wash wipe they normally pop off

Rear brake discs corroded from lack of use .. see below for as this is another saintly driver feature!
Chipped and so clutch slipping
Chipped and so it judders at full throttle below 2000 rpm
... good/clever chipping avoids the above

Terrible headlights
Condensation in rear lights and sometimes headlights
damp in the boot because rear washer pipe falls off inside back door

Check long term fuel consumption on trip 1 (flip between 1 and 2 by pressing button on bottom of RHS stalk).. 43 is not great .. 48-50 mpg the last owner drove like a saint

Inside of front tyres worn out .. standard crap feature after 12k miles

Ensure you have a full sized spare in the boot and all alloys are straight.. special alloys that you really cannot replace with any aftermarket ones easily.

See how much corrosion there is on the front brake calipers cause they ain't clever... you may have fun getting new front pads in .. you may not..

That your cupholder works. ;)

Seriously. :)

:D That was the first thing that broke on mine.Still works(after a bit of encouragement).Looks like the accountants had ran out of money when they budgeted for it.

I'd get the cam belt,tensioners and water pump changed.Opinions vary,but 4years or 60k(whichever comes first) is a good start.It'll cost around £295-£340 total.Independants aren't much cheaper.
The dealer will tell you it's 80k and not before. But that's madness in my opinion.:(

Cheers for all the tips!!

Pick the car up tommorrow evening!! Cant wait:p

Just wondering, how do I go about getting a new gearknob as the old style one is fitted at the moment and think the new ones are way cooler? Would I still be able to order it through a dealer?
