Who have you tried on the insurance side fo things! im 24 my last insurer wouldnt even insure me for the LCR. some people quoted me over £2k but then a mate driving a Civic type R told me to try elephant..

having only crashed and wrote off a car 2 years ago they quoted me £850 that was almost a £1000 cheaper than the other closest insurer. :funk:

As stated here mate the normal cupra is a lovely car. I have driven it and really the only difference in drive IMO the cupra R just fills that little bit more solid, may have something to do with the traction control..

If your contemplating a few models - definatly consider the Golf GTI anniversary.. they too are 180bhp. I drove my cousins only a few months back and it was a superb drive. Felt kinda jealous till i got back into my LCR ;) :D

Whos ya mate in Old basing?? I live in Lychpit basically right next door to old basing.

ive been getting my quotes from confused.com, will have to give elephant a try. i got a quote for £940 for the cupra and £2500 for the cupra r. being only 21 its hard to find a nice deal on insurance and thats why i was so surprised at the quote for the cupra.

You guys are being a great help on here, thanks a lot, you've completely sold it to me. i think i might go round some dealers this wknd and try and get some test drives!!!!

Cheers again guys, keep the advice coming, really loving the idea of 25-30mpg and listening to the turbo. how many miles do you guys get out of a tank and how much does that tank cost to fill?? Even with todays incredible petrol prices!!!

driving sensibly with the odd blat now and then you should see 320-350 miles per tank.
if you fill up shortly after the warning light comes on expect to put in about 53 litres to fill the tank up.
given petrol is not far off £1 per litre you know how much it will cost you!

basically you need to hit 350 miles per tank full to hit the 30mpg mark.

if you drive a little quicker then you may only see 260-270 per tank.

ive had a leon cupra and a tankfull ranged from 260 - 380.

try moneysupermarket.com - i found a deal with Bell (admiral group) which wasn't listed on confused

and also try your current insurer, its sometimes works out cheaper to upgrade a vehicle rather than a new quote!

and put your mum as a named driver, this will also bring it down (or the mrs)

i got an 04 cupra (not R) with 18k on the clock for £8500.

great car. love it to bits.

insurance is with admiral, £650. i'm 27 but have zero no claims bonus. i was delighted with that price therefore.

Have you tried Adrian Flux insurance? They have given me the best price by far!
Get yourself a cupra R and then get a remap, it makes economical sense. I can get 36mpgs as an average over an hour journey on all A roads (28mpgs if ragging it) :)

I paid £11,800 for my 225 R from a dealer, 53 plate, not the cheapest but it is absolutely immaculate. One lady owner, just been serviced, new rubber.

I'm 25 and I only pay about £740 for my Revo'd R with adrian flux.

The R is so much more than just an extra lump of horsepower.
